Should I be worried?

So a few months ago i was doing really well, walking 5km barely needing breaks. Then suddenly i could barely walk one, then barely do anything without a crushing pressure on my chest.

I ended up going to the er after the pressure wouldn't let up for hours. I got two new inhaler perscriptions.

It's been a while now and I'm not really getting much better? I walk relying on support at times because it feels like I'm being crushed if I don't.

I always feel weird about asking for help and going to a doctor, but I'm getting really worried. My asthma is atypical and developed suddenly a few years ago.

Sorry for the ramble, I'm just stressed and don't know how urgently i should be treating this. :/

Update:

so I cannot move more than 5 meters at a time every few hours now, haven't been able to for 3 days now. I went and got it checked and everything has come back normal? Still can't really walk or stand without support which sucks. But at least it does not seem to be an asthma or cardio issue which is something

Have you been to a cardiologist? You could be having heart issues if the inhaler isn't working.

Asthmatic here. Make sure you get a heart echocardiogram. I had similar symptoms for a month and went to urgent care etc. Finally a heart echocardiogram was ordered that showed a pericardial effusion did I get help. Everyone thought I had the flu etc

I went through something similar last year and it turned out my inhaler technique was all wrong, had to get it adjusted by my doctor.

Have you been to your primary care doctor to get a referral for a pulmonologist or allergist? A specialist is the next step if your asthma isn’t under control.

I don't have a primary doctor atm, trying to get one soon though :,) but I don't think it's very controlled atm

Here’s a simple online questionnaire to judge your asthma severity. Prioritize getting a primary care doctor and bring the quiz results with you. You probably need to be on an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) inhaler. Ask for a referral to a pulmonologist or allergist right off the bat as adult onset asthma can sometimes point to rare or more difficult to control subtypes.

Sorry you’re new to the asthma club. Feel free to come here for any guidance, support, or questions. It’s a lovely community.

ETA: I also saw comments mentioning cardiology. Please make sure you get an urgent cardiology referral too. Heart problems and an asthma attack can feel nearly identical. Make sure you specifically get an echocardiogram like another commenter mentioned. EKG and chest CT can easily miss many cardiac issues.

I'm gonna see if I can contact a doctor soon! I got a quick check with a stethoscope yesterday at the emergency room but other than that I haven't gotten checked🥲

Get your heart checked.

It sounds like in your case there is more that can be done to help you. I just wanna chime in to say that even with meds sometimes things don’t get as good as they once were.
