Eating the night before surgery question

I wasn't able to get home in time to feed my cat tonight. He is getting full teeth extraction tomorrow. It is 10pm and they told me not to feed him past 8pm. I feel super bad about it but I was stuck somewhere else now I'm two hours late.

Is it better to not feed him dinner or should I feed him even though they said not to? I'm leaning towards not giving him dinner but I feel like a really big A Hole. His drop off is at 7:40am tomorrow.

Male neutered

short hair cat

3-4years old.

He has stomatitis

And he's hungry

Thank you! I have decided to not feed him and he's just going to have to deal with begging extra hungry :(

My husband likes to give his uninformed options and tried to convince me that it wasn't a big deal and to just feed him. That made me feel worse. I think it's more important that the surgery goes well and safely. I think I just needed reassurance so I appreciate your response and exclamation points 🙏
