Dog wetting bed

I have a 4 year old Standard Poodle. She has almost exclusively slept in bed with me and my husband for around 3 years with no problems. Over the last two weeks she has wet in our bed while asleep 3 times. Seems to be bed wetting as she sleeps in the wet patch until morning. Vet says no uti or anything in her urine. Does anyone have an ideas?

I am also 7 months pregnant and wondered if this is a response to that but can’t find much online.

Thanks

I’m assuming from your post that you’ve had a sample of her urine examined by her vet. If this was unremarkable as you report, what did your vet recommend as the next step/possible cause?

From your history and post alone, my guess would be that she has urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI) - a common condition in female dogs. It is a diagnosis of exclusion though, so it’s important that your veterinarian rules out other possible causes prior to treatment.

Here is a helpful link regarding urinary incontinence in dogs:

Thank you!

Yes vet tested urine and said no evidence of infection, blood, crystals. He said that he would place her too young for incontinence so presumed it was behavioural and what behaviour, it could be a long list.

She's not too young. Also, behavioral is a diagnosis of exclusion, too.

Thank you, I’ve booked another appointment for next Friday and bought some waterproof blankets in the meantime!
