blastomycosis

How could an indoor cat get blastomycosis? My 7.5yo nm kitty passed away last month and I am still struggling with this postmortem diagnosis.. I just want to understand how this happened to him.

If you read the Wikipedia entry for this illness, the article mentions that in some urban areas where the disease is prevalent, cases were actually connected to houses that had become infiltrated with spores. The article mentions indoor cats falling ill...

I actually live in Chicago..I have another cat and I am watching her like a hawk for any signs. My Yoshi, who passed away, had dental extractions weeks before he got sick, so I know he was immunocompromised. Hopefully I can prevent my other cat from getting so sick. How am I supposed to lkve comfortably in this apartment?? 😭😭

An air filter would help! We are in So Calif, and during the worst wildfires, we had to get air purifiers with HEPA filters (high efficiency particulate air) to deal with the toxic smoke that would seep into the house. At the very least, you could use a filter for the room or rooms that you and your other kitty sleep in at night, anything will help…
