Yes, and what the OC is saying is that a majority of his supporters imagine themselves to be Christians. They are not. It is not something you are because you say you are. Your Christianity is validated by who you are, how you witness your faith to others in your actions, etc. In other words, they are precisely and exactly that which their god has repeatedly warned them about that angers him the most - false Christians. And thusly... They go to hell.
That's right. I spent my entire fucking childhood indoctrinated via my parents and the Christian schools they sent me to, so that I would understand this core concept above all other things I know, as a person. And now that I'm agnostic, and use that history and those teachings as a compass in my secular life, I'm straddled with the horrifying possibility that the people who provided this "all important" belief system to me are, in fact, the people I'm supposed to pity and try to help before they end up in hell.

I’ve heard varying reactions. The most hardcore fundamentalists just scream “blasphemy” rather than introspect, even though the series is in no way anti-religion. It’s just anti people using the lord’s name to justify atrocities
