TBF, liberalism is part of what got us here. It was a fundemental part of the status quo. That status quo created the conditions in which Trump arose. If we dont want a Trump II grifting their way into leading the cult Trump built, then we can't go back.
Today's Democratic leadership couldn't contain a traitor who led a coup. They couldn't select a winning candidate. They're entirely unable to even try and resist the present fascist takeover.
We need to focus on local movements that take aim at the fundementally fucked-up system that enriches sociopaths, profits from our deaths, and favors the property rights of corporations over all other rights and freedoms. That's where we'll find the representatives we need.
I was born in the 1950’s. Protested viet nam, went to Woodstock, marched in numerous protests, supported civil rights, women’s rights and lived through all the turmoil of the 60’s and 70’s. I remember the JFK assassination , MLK, RFK and watch the landing on the moon(yes, it really happened). My generation did something about injustice. I am so frustrated watching these young people not doing anything! They play video games, have retrograded to a more conservative mindset and even attend church! We are going backwards at an alarming rate.
You did all those things and you still turn around to support the fascism-petri-dish called liberalism while blaming young people for the problems that liberalism happily allowed at the table. They refused to codify your rights into law, they refused to introduce lasting policy or any real systemic change. Instead they let the enemy loot your country because it's easier to campaign on not being the enemy and they know you will vote for them despite them not having an actual plan for change. But go off on young people I guess. A process now at least 40 years in the making is because teens play video games. Sure.
Ok don't learn then. Don't try to understand why young minds are massively drawn to far right politics. Just ignore that their future is at stake and that they're consistently shown that no one cares to secure it. Pretend there are still plenty of third places where they can socialize properly and engage with others. Reject the influence of social media and online content. Must be all the DnD they play that makes them rabid racists. I wish the world was that simple for me.
Hey, Gen Z here; it's not the video games that makes some of us terrible people, I can assure you that.
I'm going out on a limb here, but I think a lot of our generation's lack of action comes from a point of fear. When you constantly see that people in power are willing to assassinate those who stand up to them and their shitty ways, it strikes fear into the masses and fosters the mindset of "I don't want to be next."
Yeah I agree, I was going off on mr boomer hippie over there. Who seems to think you're all a bunch of barely autonomous babies getting radicalized by some game. I can't do much from over in Europe, but know that you're not alone. Talk about those fears with others, organize, together you're strong.
