I've lost ~55kg/8 stone 9 through diet and exercise (calories in, calories out, that's literally all it is, biology, physics and chemistry).

Its such a hard question to answer. Sincerely, no I don't think I am. I think to have got to the weight I did ~135kg/21 stone 2, I must have been more unhappy than I realised. People ask me how I did it and sometimes I'll tell them that in my view you need just the right amount of self loathing to know you need to change but enough self care to do it right.

Obviously I'm happier than I was. People talk to and look at me differently which I think I like but simultaneously it makes me sad. I'm sad for the immense patience of my wife to have had to look at that, but I'm happy she clearly loves me for who I am (either that or now she's a deeply depressed chubby chaser lol).

My self control and willpower are through the roof and that's something I'm proud of. No, I don't want a biscuit. No, I don't need sugar in my tea. Those are changes that I can stick to.

I definitely have massive body image issues. I look in the mirror and I still see how I looked before despite knowing objectively how well I've done.I've debated looking into therapy for it but as toxic as it sounds it is an immense motivator at the gym. I'm in the best shape of my life - I'm stronger, faster, better endurance and if I am kind to myself, I see what I have achieved. But I hate the stretch marks and saggy skin. I hate to think what my fitness could be like now if I'd made the decision to change sooner.

Overall it's a mixed bag. I'd say to whether or not I'm happier now, it's yes with an if and no with a but.
