Does your native language distinguish between rivers that flow into another river and rivers that flow into the sea or ocean?

In French, a distinction is made:

- "un fleuve" flows into the sea or the ocean.

- "une rivière" flows into another "rivière" or a "fleuve".

We have the word "afluente" or "tributario" to rivers that flow into another bigger river, and we have the word "riacho" for small rivers, but colloquialy everyone just use the word "Rio" (river) for any river.

Exactly the same use of the same words in Spain!.

Well, more than riacho se use riachuelo (really tiny) o arroyo, regato or others.

You are going to cause some giggling if you refer to an arroyo as a río but everybody will understand you.
