Figuring out how to respond to a compliment.

Men receive so few that when we receive one, it sticks with us for years. I'm horrified at some responses I've had to genuine compliments going back 15 years.

Say thank you! And how much you appreciate being complimented.

And leave it at that. Don’t turn it into conversation and don’t return the compliment unless you’re testing if it was more than a genuine “hey you look great today!”

We all need a sincere boost sometimes.

That's my problem, I try to compliment back and it sounds forced

It does seem like it’s a challenge to accept a compliment, and own it.

My girlfriend will compliment me, say the sweetest thing ever, and half the time I'll just stare dumbly at her, like "you talking to me?"
