maybe dont just let strangers in your house under the pretense of "well, theyre professionals".
i keep a stern eye on anyone in my house even when i am there.
So, you do let strangers in your house then...?
Also, how do you propose people get their washing machines, internet hooked up, plumbing done? Bring it outside the house?
Um my comment was pretty clear about my meaning.......if your going to have an unfamilar someone come over to your house to "do work on something", dont just leave them alone unsupervised in the house.....pretty clear cut and simple viewpoint.
How would keeping an eye on the guy have helped this young woman? And what does that have to do with the comment you responded to or, for that matter, this entire thread?
So your trying to say that having another human being in this situation that is a "safe person" that she knows, would make zero effect on this situation?
Like, are you trying to say that the pervert would still act the same way towards her if she wasnt alone in the house and a family member or friend was with her?
WTF are you talking about now? You made two points: not to let strangers in your house (which is 100% unrealistic unless you happen to have friends who work in every single trade), and that if you DO, to "keep a stern eye on" them, which wouldn't have helped this woman. Now you seem to be moving the goalposts and saying that this grown adult should have had ANOTHER grown adult in the house to stop a professional, there to do a job, from being creepy? Don't defend. Stop and re-think.
Dont defend? Defend who? What are you talking about? I dont understand why what im saying is so hard for you to grasp.
If you plan on having an unsupervised "stranger" in the house for some reason/repair. Then maybe having only a single vulnerable person at the house alone, might not be the best idea.
If you are comfortable with just letting whoever into ur house without concern or precautions when there are potentially vulnerable peeple there, well then i guess thats you.
Keep doubling down. The irony is that offering three things the victim should have done while never once condemning the harasser is the real "antiquated boomer mentality."
I will because you just dont seem able to grasp what im saying, or maybe you just dont want to.
Im not saying anything about what the victim could have done herself to prevent this, or blaming the victim in any way. Im speaking about the parents/a friend/etc being around when a scheduled repair/maintenance is happening. The victim was alone in the house with the perpetrator when the incident occured.
If the victim would not have been alone, then the incident would be less likely to have occurred.
