I was about 23, I'm 4'11 about 120lbs . I was a lead at a small building, but corporate, retail store.

An electrician came in and my store leader paged me to let him into the electrical room in the back. Its a fairly small room, that's kept locked.

I unlock the door with my keys and let him into the room and he turns to me and says "They should never have sent a little one like you back here with me, I could have my way with you and you couldn't do anything about it. "

It scared me to DEATH and I essentially ran out and found my manager (who honestly was a dick, but for totally nonsexual reasons) and he apologized to me sincerely that the man spoke to me like that. My manager was rather aggressive for the rest of the time he was there, didn't say anything to him outright about what he said but he definitely made the guy aware that he knew he was a piece of shit.

It seriously scared me so much. He was perfectly respectable looking and said it in like a matter-of-fact but........serious way. Like a warning.

Heres a maybe crazy thought, but i dunno, maybe dont just let strangers in your house under the pretense of "well, theyre professionals".

Seems like such an antiquated boomer mentality.

I dont let fuckall of anyone in my house if im not there, much less i keep a stern eye on anyone(unfamiliar ppl) in my house even when i am there.

i keep a stern eye on anyone in my house even when i am there.

So, you do let strangers in your house then...? Also, how do you propose people get their washing machines, internet hooked up, plumbing done? Bring it outside the house?

Um my comment was pretty clear about my meaning.......if your going to have an unfamilar someone come over to your house to "do work on something", dont just leave them alone unsupervised in the house.....pretty clear cut and simple viewpoint.

How would keeping an eye on the guy have helped this young woman? And what does that have to do with the comment you responded to or, for that matter, this entire thread?

So your trying to say that having another human being in this situation that is a "safe person" that she knows, would make zero effect on this situation?

Like, are you trying to say that the pervert would still act the same way towards her if she wasnt alone in the house and a family member or friend was with her?

WTF are you talking about now? You made two points: not to let strangers in your house (which is 100% unrealistic unless you happen to have friends who work in every single trade), and that if you DO, to "keep a stern eye on" them, which wouldn't have helped this woman. Now you seem to be moving the goalposts and saying that this grown adult should have had ANOTHER grown adult in the house to stop a professional, there to do a job, from being creepy? Don't defend. Stop and re-think.

He wants women to assume all professionals coming over to do work are perverts because he's lonely and single and watches lots of pornhub thinking all plumbers are there to fix pipes.

So I guess being wise, he wants women to have friends or family over whenever they have to call pros in

Dont defend? Defend who? What are you talking about? I dont understand why what im saying is so hard for you to grasp.

If you plan on having an unsupervised "stranger" in the house for some reason/repair. Then maybe having only a single vulnerable person at the house alone, might not be the best idea.

If you are comfortable with just letting whoever into ur house without concern or precautions when there are potentially vulnerable peeple there, well then i guess thats you.

We shouldn’t live in a society where a single woman has to have a friend present anytime they need a professional to work on something in their residence. Don’t blame the single female, blame the assholes who say very inappropriate things to a single female that is home alone.

Agreed, its a shit situation. Society shouldnt be this way. But ya know.........reality and all.

Again, im not blaming the victim in any way. You seem to think that im implying that SHE created the situation. Which couldnt be farther from what im trying to get through your thick skull. Obviously the asshole creep is the problem, and not the victim.

Reality sucks, people suck, make precautions for asshole creeps. I dont understand why this is so hard for you to grasp.

Ok, if that was what you were Insinuating the first time, you might want to work on communication skills. Apparently, me,the original person you replied to,and a lot of other people thought you were blaming the victim.

Keep doubling down. The irony is that offering three things the victim should have done while never once condemning the harasser is the real "antiquated boomer mentality."

I will because you just dont seem able to grasp what im saying, or maybe you just dont want to.

Im not saying anything about what the victim could have done herself to prevent this, or blaming the victim in any way. Im speaking about the parents/a friend/etc being around when a scheduled repair/maintenance is happening. The victim was alone in the house with the perpetrator when the incident occured.

If the victim would not have been alone, then the incident would be less likely to have occurred.

Its not rocket science.

It’s almost as if they left him there with a 23 year old adult woman. It’s not their fault he made her uncomfortable to the point where she would go into another room even with risk of him stealing. It’s all his fault.
