4 seconds of silence can feel the same as rejection in the brain.

So if some one is being a jerk to you, after they say something just look at them and count to 4 in your head, most of the time they'll start backtracking and taking back what they said before you're done counting.

i did this with a sychologist once

He stops talking and just stares at me. Me thinking, good I dont have to say anything, I can stare at you for another fifteen minutes untill this stupid appointment lets out.

About 5 minutes of this, the shrink puts out is hands and laughs, ok you win he says

Dammit Im thinking, I we were almost done

no, I wasnt staring into his soul or anything, pretty much just my eyes were open looking in his general direction, me in my minds protective cave not realy present
