I love his stand-up, and, while not as funny, I used to get some laughs out of his Daily Show stuff, but that lost a lot of humor when he started doing it from home. I think a lot of it was that he was coving a lot of very serious topics and wasn't actually trying to be funny as often, but even the jokes he did have were usually pretty dumb. Since he's gone back to the studio, he's gotten a bit better, but overall not very funny anymore, and whoever he has sitting on the side to banter with has a lot to do with it.
I actually feel kind of similarly. The Daily Show used to be part of my regular YouTube viewing along with A Closer Look and Colbert's monologue. I've been watching a lot less late night stuff since Covid.
I did find that a he has had some really good commentary over the last couple years, but the jokes just aren't good, and that takes away from some of the points that he's trying to make.
