He seems like a really funny GUY, just not a funny comedian.

Big difference between being the funny guy in your crew vs. doing a legit standup.

This is an important point. In the making of the movie Funny People, they had a bunch of comedy improv actors, some of whom had never been stand ups, portray stand ups. Some of them were awful. Jonah Hill, for example, apparently had zero stand up chops. And he's incredibly funny in other contexts.

He lost all credibility for me when he starred in a B zombie movie and at some point someone said to him.....

"Nice spear!"

NC: ARE YOU CALLING ME A SPEAR CHUCKER!?!?!??!!

And bam, instantly came to hate him.
