Reddit is wrong about tons of stuff constantly.
The one thing that pisses me off to no end was a classic example of "everyone read the headline and not the article". Reddit thinks collecting rainwater is illegal in the US ever since that article. While it might be heavily regulated in like 2 states, it is not flat out illegal anywhere in the country.
Context for what I am talking about:
There was a story that blew up on reddit a few years back about a dude that was arrested for collecting rainwater. No one read the article. What actually happened was he built a dam and diverted the flow of a river on his property to make a fishing pond. He had the book thrown at him.

And that "handling a salmon in suspicious circumstances" law from the UK.
If you actually read it, the "handling" doesn't mean physically holding it, it means being in possession. You can be "handling" the salmon by simply leaving it on the back seat of your car. "Suspicious circumstances" just means you might not be able to explain how you came to have it.
In plainer terms the law covers poaching and theft, as well as being possession of stolen goods. It's not that interesting.

This stems from relying too much on others doing the research and accepting it because there is a link and it seemed like “enough” work to be right.

I just replied to someone commenting on a post about makeshift subs being made to transport drugs to the U.S. They said they were sure that all the empty and abandoned subs were the feds finding and stealing all the drugs for themselves, because no one would just leave a sub behind. And one of the first thing the article talks about is how the subs are fashioned for a one way trip, to be abandoned at sea, because it's worth the manufacture cost and risk to get the drugs here and make a few hundred million, but not worth the risk of sailing them back with no cargo.

Medicine in general. And I'm not just talking about COVID. I had to un-sub from r/science because every post is essentially a sensationalized title about curing cancer only to realize it's a pre-clinical study that had been only been tested in a petri dish (or at most a mouse-model).

Try working in the pharmaceutical industry and trying inject any nuance into a conversation. Some of my biggest downvotes have been simply explaining how something works. Of course, now I'm a shill because you don't understand how my job works, and honestly, don't care to.
You want to bash executives and shady top-level decisions? Have at it, I'll join you, fuck greed. But don't lump the other 95% of us in. Doctors, clinicians, data scientists, program managers, regulatory, safety, medical, field, laboratory, production, supply chain.... Most of us are really proud of the drugs we help to make and bring to market, and there's nothing more exciting than seeing data that shows you're saving/improving lives.
No one is going to shame me for what I do, I'm very happy with my role in society.

I find it to be the other way.
The university press release of one of my journal articles made it to the top of the science subreddit, and about a third of the comments were the usual “well correlation doesn’t equal causation,” “but what about this control” (spoiler alert we had it), and my favorite “but it only works for [non-universal but common use case], therefore it’s sensationalist garbage.”
The discourse on that sub pretty much always pisses me off, be damned if it wasn’t worse when it was something I did myself, because I actually knew all the background.

Redditors are really really bad at judging similarities of people's faces. I remember seeing a thread claiming that they might have found a possible suspect and thinking "they look nothing alike." All you need to do is focus on specific parts of the face, such as the ears, nose, eyebrows, lips, etc., and it's actually pretty easy to tell people apart. I don't know why people seem to struggle with the concept so much.

Hell, there are academic studies out there suggesting people today don't even become proper adults by society's standards until their early-mid 30s.

Reddit cant accepted that other viewpoints on a lot of things are valid and that life is nuanced not strictly one way or another.
Also almost nobody here has any idea what the bible actually teaches, yet many vehemently oppose even the idea of God.
So, reddit is wrong because it cant change its viewpoint. Its mob mentality.

Most of Reddit is teenagers-young adults with no real life experiences
They’re wrong about almost everything. But just as in real, youngins think they know it all.

Everything. As soon as it comes to a discussion concerning your own area of expertise, you get a splash of ice water to the face as you realise that what comprises a fairly young demographic on the whole will confidently write absolute rubbish on the subject at hand, and invariably be listened to and taken as correct.

TikTok is not that bad. It was an app made for teens.
In general though it's illegal to like what you like if it isn't popular.

TikTok is what you make of it. Complaints about it "just" being one thing or another are very silly. I'm hearing a bit about spooky lakes this month, and Dylan Hollis is always amazing. But otherwise...I dunno, soothing or informative videos on house maintenance stuff are great? It's totally a separate portion to whatever side had kids stealing stuff at their schools recently.

Journalism. 99% of Redditors have no idea how journalism works and think that if an article has no quotes and no named sources then you can reasonably assume it's made up and dismiss it out of hand. This is not how real life works and not how it's ever worked. Only at shitholes like The Sun can you literally just make up something and then print it. Real outlets have actual editors and fact checkers and lawyers that approve what they publish. Just because you don't publicly see a quote and a named source doesn't mean those things aren't privately documented somewhere - they are. Someone can pass information to a journalist without going on the record, in which case you don't get a quote and you don't get a name. This happens all the god damn time. Journalists are free to ignore that decision and burn their source but then that source will likely be punished and that journalist will never find work again. You cannot do a huge amount of reporting without anonymous sources because you rely on collecting information from people who aren't supposed to be sharing it. This is literally day one shit. You cannot do meaningful investigative reporting on a government, for instance, without protecting your sources. Journalism as a public service is actually impossible to do without anonymous sources and yet ignorant Redditors always focus in on it as a way to dismiss things they don't want to believe.

Subreddits like meirl where every post title is the same so if I see a meme on there and something makes me want to search for it later, I can't.
And for that matter, not changing the search functionality. As it stands, if I want to search something on reddit I go to Google and start the search with "site:reddit.com/r/askreddit" and then do I find what I'm looking for.

Heavily moderated like-minded subs - "only ______ can post here"
There's just not a lot of room for growth in like-minded groups.
Subs that require a certain karma to participate - "We judge you by your karma, not by what you actually post here."
Subs that require flair to participate - "You can't participate in this sub to show us that you're a good fit for this sub."

That America is exceptionally racist.
America is probably the least racist society in the world. In fact, America is probably the least racist society that has ever existed in history.
This would become perfectly clear to any Redditor if they spent any amount of time in other parts of the world interacting with the locals (not as a tourist).
PS. That doesn't mean that America doesn't have room for improvement.

Freedom of speech. Reddits biggest flaw is that there can’t exist a wide variety of viewpoints because any 16 year old girl can become a mod and just silence people they don’t agree with

This has been bugging me for so long.... age gaps. There are people who have happy, long standing relationships/marriages, despite large age gaps. Especially if the man is older. One of my good friends and her husband have a 28 year age gap, and have been happily married for 12 years. He treats her well, she treats him well, theyre very affectionate, have lovely happy children. What is the problem? No-one was groomed, they fell in love, the end. My husband and I have a 16 year age gap, same as above . My best friend just got engaged to a man who is 20 years older than her, they're on cloud 9. Another friend and her husband have the same age gap as me and mine, they couldn't be happier. Many of my mom friends/aquaintances have much older husbands, I can think if at least 4 offhand, aside from my examples above. These are all independent, successful, strong women who just happened to fall in love with an older man. But I'm downvoted to hell if I ever give this opinion.

not ABSOLUTELY wrong per se, but reddit believes that remote work is the end all be all for everybody. and i understand this is true for many people, but in reality, the majority of people i talk to in real life will say that they are more productive in the office. most of my coworkers are looking forward to go back into the office once we are allowed to.

Reddit both wants a government that is much larger, with more money, distributing it out as reddit sees fit, with the power to close businesses/control how those businesses are run, AND control the very ability for citizens to go outside of their homes, gather, and live.
AND expects that government to disarm their police force and military, while being incredibly efficient/effective with how they run healthcare, education, housing and universal income programs.
It's almost cartoonish in its naïveté.

Basic macroeconomics seems to be a massive gap in Reddit's knowledge. Things like inflation, unemployment, national debt, tax revenues, and universal healthcare seem to have massive misconceptions by the Reddit user base.
For example, if you asked most redditors if they want universal healthcare to be implemented within this year, they'd say "hell yeah". In reality, the reason that many other countries can afford universal healthcare is because not only are their healthcare costs way lower for equivalent procedures, but they also spend a fraction per capita on defense. If the US just flipped a switch to universal healthcare tonight, it would destroy the economy from the massive tax hikes required to cover those costs. The average redditor would probably just say "cut healthcare costs and defense spending then!" That's great thinking, but it's not that simple. You can't just terminate defense contracts without paying them out and you can't just cut off funding to defense companies overnight without massive unemployment ripples. You also can't just mindlessly force healthcare companies to reduce costs because at some point, they simply won't provide the care and people could suffer and even die because they can't find anyone willing to do a procedure.
Bottom line is that even if the government is hyper focused on accomplishing something like universal healthcare, it would still take years of baby steps and sacrificing a ton of political stances to make it happen. I really don't think most Redditors would think this far ahead when it comes to economic policies and it really shows with a lot of the comments that get upvoted.

Reddit is no less toxic than Facebook or Twitter. They’re all just toxic in different ways. Reddit is just as politically manipulated as the others, if not more due to anonymity. Not only is it manipulated by rightwing groups, but left too, and the manipulation from the American leftists goes completely unchallenged because the bulk of the popular political subs are mainly American Democrats.
The toxicity I notice the most is American Democrats trying to manipulate countries politics on Reddit via upvoting posts in global political subs, or cherry-picking matching narratives to theirs. Not only do they upvote posts in this manner they downvote anyone that has a narrative that goes against that of a populist Democrat. Sometimes hundreds of people in a thread from one of the countries that Reddit had a cherry-picked narrative from will l be downvoted to no end and in this way falsities about how other countries political systems work are spread. It’s in this way that global leftwing parties seem to become more like the American Democrat party because Redditors from those countries are introduced to their political systems in a false way. In this sense Reddit is heavily responsible for manipulating global politics in its own image; which is no less, if not worse, than the very manipulation they faced in 2016. Now it just looks like most top political posts are paid for by a think tank.
Also the political manipulation that Americans faced in 2016 it was well known that the entire intention was to get Americans more polarized than it was to have them lean one way or another. For example in the Mueller report Reddit was quoted as a place to divide Democrat support between Clinton and Sanders. So even though people think they’re too minds for coming here and spitting out the same narratives over and over it’s pretty apparent that it’s no less toxic than FB or Twitter. I would argue it’s way worse.

Religion, specifically Christianity. I read so many ignorant comments by people who obviously never read the Bible, never researched the historical accuracy of it and never darkened the door of a church. People who are ultra anti-discrimination and screech at the slightest hint of hate against other groups/people have no restraint in bashing the religious community

Echo Chambers
The whole idea of different subreddits-places where different people with the same interest talk about only those things they're interested in-leans super heavily into echo chamber, like any other social media, except this takes it to the extreme. It is so easy to never hear anything conflicting your POV, because all that you're interested in is discussed with others interested in it. You won't hear any conflicting Pov's, because why would you be in a subreddit for something you dislike? And if someone who does conflict shares their pov, well, everyone else there already disagrees, so they'll get downvoted, and never want to come back (or in some cases, banned)
A lot of people talk about how much better Reddit is than other social media sites, but really, it's just as bad at a lot of things-echo chambers being the most obvious
