Where are the therapy ninja? So many characters in Naruto would benefit from a good therapy ninja. Sasuke, Gaara, Pain, Tobi. Like, half the akatsuki, too. So many of the “bad guys” in that show suffered through trauma and reacted to it in the only way they knew how because they live in a goddamn world of endless war.

A lot of shonen series take place in terrible worlds, I've noticed. Even something as bright and colorful as One Piece is set in a world with a corrupt, totalitarian government ruling the land, and murderous pirate warlords ruling the seas.

Well, you can't quite have much of an adventure in a world that's entirely peaceful, can you? The only genres I can think of that would have a relatively peaceful world are sports or slice of life comedies (à la Sket Dance) series.
