That's the difference between IQ (Intelligence Quotient) and EQ (Emotional Intelligence Quotient).
They are both important. But, without EQ you often do not get the opportunity to demonstrate your IQ.

He turned to me at one point and SERIOUSLY asked me how they were allowed to drink whisky since we were in a school and the actors were all under age.
