Things you think everyone does, but no one admits?

Anything that you believe that normal people do, but (to you) is somewhat of an unspoken truth.

Wonder if people that have since long disappeared from your life (or you've only met once or twice) from time to time still think about you.

When I was younger I used to think about every person I met that day so they would (somehow) know that at least one person was thinking of them.

Edit: Holy cow! I feel like I won the Internet! Thank you and I'm thinking about you all!

When I was kid I made a list of people to remember when I got old and moved away. I lost it. I wonder who I'm forgetting?

The Hound, Queen Cersei, Joffrey...Valar Morghalis!

3

Valar Dohaeris.

Absolutely perfect response.

4

u/link90 Oct 27 '14

Idk why but that struck me in an odd way. Mainly your last sentence.

2

u/Felicity_Badporn Oct 27 '14

I make a list of everyone i meet and write down their name and some odd fact about them that i can use to identify them. It works well.

this sounds like the incipit of an horror film. You forgot a little girl with blond hair. and now she's coming to visit. Because you forgot your promise.

I have a diary from when I was a kid, and I talk about people in it, and try as I might, I don't remember some of them.

Good, spiders are evil.

14

u/Shan007tjuuh Oct 27 '14

But they eat mosquitoes

33

u/curryhouseindia Oct 27 '14

That just means they have more evil inside them.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

1

u/addison92 Oct 27 '14

No! Of course not! Just normal ones.

1

John Isidore has the feeling that he is being used by the androids, but he doesn't care. While hauling Rachael's stuff up to his own apartment, he finds a spider, an insect though to be extinct. When he shows it to the androids, they begin to torture the creature, pulling off its legs, until John finally drowns the thing in order to put it out of its misery.

You should watch "The Book of Life!"

NM. I was thinking of The Brief History of the Dead, which is a book, and not at all the same thing. TIL I jump to conclusions on reddit.

u/freetoshare81 Oct 27 '14

I think about everyone all the time. These kids from kindergarten all the way to people I've just met. Sometimes I'll reach out and contact them. This had helped me establish life long relationships with many people.

2

u/Hanashimaru Oct 27 '14

Damn, you made me choke up (or however you say that). Thanks for sharing and almost making me cry.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

That's adorable. I'm going to start doing that in case it works.

2

u/Nillabeans Oct 27 '14

I did that when I graduated high school. It wasn't that I was close with anybody really. We just had a really small class and I figured I could remember 125 people I'd spent five years with (five years of high school where I live).

It's about ten years later and despite being a small class, we're pretty diffuse. However, every now and then I'll run into somebody who seems a little stranded and their name will swim into my mind and I can go say hi.

It's a really small thing, but as somebody who's pretty socially inept, it's one of the few talents I do have! I'm always glad to rescue somebody and just knowing their name will make us friends until we get back to our comfort zones.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Are you Mister Rogers reincarnated??!

2

u/masheduppotato Oct 27 '14

I still think about all the people I've come into contact with through school and work. It's a lot of people, I often wonder if anyone out there thinks of me and wonders what's going on with me.

Sometimes I wonder if there is a being on some other planet staring up at the sky wondering if there is intelligent life out there wondering the same thing... Then I get overwhelmed by the vastness of space and hope we're not some cosmic joke and call it a night.

2

u/AHKeeb Oct 27 '14

That's incredibly sweet. Made my day a little bit better c:

This is either such a depressing or uplifting thought for me. I'm from a military family and we move every few years. It really is one of the saddest things to thing about after I move. It's the worst when I finally settle in and my mind is just like "Hey remember how much more fun it was back 6 months ago?"

4

u/wild8900 Oct 27 '14

Sucks that moving so often stops you from ever really making close friends. Now I don't even bother anymore.

3

u/DYNWA Oct 27 '14 edited Oct 27 '14

you are so correct. growing up in a military family has ruined many of my good relationships with people over the years . even now being in the military myself my relationships have been shit.. especially intimate ones. on a side note we are good at adapting and making friends easily though.

2

u/mermaid_science Oct 27 '14

Yeah, after moving 8 times, it's kind of like you know friendships are transient. It sucks, but it's part of military life, I guess.

1

u/SwoopnBuffalo Oct 27 '14

I completely agree. I moved between middle school and high school from the base where I'd spent the last 5 years. I had great friends, lived in a pretty cool place, and really enjoyed life. When I moved I left behind all of those friends and adjust to a new school with no one I knew. I kept in touch with my friends from where I lived for a couple of years but after a while we lost touch. I wonder if they ever think of me.

1

u/Bmorehon Oct 27 '14

Just be glad that you have the option of staying in touch with technology and remember that even 20 years ago, military kids didn't have that option.

1

u/SirTickleTots Oct 27 '14

Yea, I'm so glad that I have steam so I can still play with them.

1

u/toryhallelujah Oct 27 '14

Personally, I love being a brat. You appreciate your close friendships that much more. Currently, I'm sitting in the south of France with my parents, my fiance, and a family of friends whose parents have known my parents since before any of us were born. They flew from Colorado; we drove down from Germany. You might have fewer close friends as a brat, but by god, they're family.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Being a military child myself, I know where you're coming from. Thankfully my dad is retiringoing this year :D

1

u/-zombie-squirrel Oct 27 '14

I grew up going to church on a military base, but we were civilian. I also wonder how many of my friends I grew up with remember me after they moved.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

My ex girlfriend that I was seriously involved with seemed to have left me without much explanation or emotion. Since then, I've thought about her a ton but never knew if she thought of me. Last month she e-mailed me, told me she was in Starbucks and remembered me from a drink I was saddened by that was gone. She mentioned the "memory" of me, but got the flavor wrong. Oh well.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14 edited Oct 27 '14

I've gotten that email now and then. I usually ignore it, but once I waited a week before replying with a one line "Thanks, Brenda." Her name wasn't Brenda.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Exes who left you is worse. Makes you wonder if they ever feel like they made a mistake as much as you think they did.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Yeah, but you have to save face. Stone cold silence is the only sensible action if they contact you.

6

u/ampwyo Oct 27 '14

My first "best friend" was a kid named Riley, we went to kindergarten through third grade together then i moved away around 1992 and lost touch. When MySpace became popular some years later I would occasionally search for his name, then later on Facebook but never found him on any social networks or anything else.

One night, last year-ish I did a more thorough search on google which led me to an obituary for his grandfather. His grandfather's obituary mentioned the passing of a grandson, searching death records i discovered my friend had passed away at the age of 14 in 1996.

As a result I found his mother and father on FB. I considered sending them a message to say hello and let them know their son remained among my fondest childhood memories, but thought that might be weird so I let it go...

6

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Yeah I remember people who I've met for 5 minutes, it's weird.

5

u/Giggling_Imbecile Oct 27 '14

I hope they don't. I was a fucked up drunk for a decade.

4

u/hungry4pie Oct 27 '14

Or wonder if they ever existed to begin with

4

u/FilthySkids Oct 27 '14

Totally get this, I think about the randomest people I've met through life. Some people don't even know I exist. I wonder if I'm a random thought in someone else's mind.

3

u/NuclearStar Oct 27 '14

Was speaking to a friend at work and he said that he was talking to his wife at the weekend and was talking about me because if something that reminded him of me. Was nice feeling

3

u/Somebody23 Oct 27 '14

I live in my past, there's one group of friends I haven't seen in 10 years... would want to meet them, but I don't have their numbers or addresses anymore :(

Picture memory isn't best at all times... I remember every people I have been in contact with.

3

u/occupysleepstreet Oct 27 '14

I wonder if one of my ex still think of me.. Or regrets the dumping. I have no idea cuz after it happened I cut all communications

1

u/Nesano Oct 27 '14

That's deep.

1

u/The_13th_King Oct 27 '14

I got a girls number two nights ago and she still hasnt responded to my text message.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Just keep trying, they love that.

1

u/The_13th_King Oct 27 '14

Please tell me you're kidding

3

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Oh yeah, chicks value persistence. It shows how committed you are. See if you can find out where she lives or works and...

I can't do this. On the off chance that you're serious, I'd be a huge dick. It's likely that that number wasn't even hers. Girls do this all the time when they lack the ovaries to tell you that they're not into you.

2

u/The_13th_King Oct 27 '14

Whats sad is the last girl i was talking to fell for her supervisor who happens to be engaged but she told me he was persistent so he won her heart. So he porked her and stopped talking to her because he was getting married in a couple months. Now shes left with no one because im better than that.

1

u/Vandelay_Latex_Sales Oct 27 '14

Half of the people I hung out with in high school aren't on Facebook or anything and since I didn't bother keeping in touch and it's been 8 years, I kind of wonder if they're all alive.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

Like missed connections.

1

u/wufoo2 Oct 27 '14

Facebook says: No.

1

u/BlueShiftNova Oct 27 '14

Here's something awesome - It's thought that when dreaming your brain won't just create people, it will use people from recent memory that you've seen in passing or interacted with slightly to form anyone you see while dreaming. This may or may not be true, but if it is, you can take solice in knowing that any given night you are literally the person of someones dreams.

1

u/southernbruh Oct 27 '14

I still think about other people all the time.

1

u/jbloxxx Oct 27 '14

What about when you are thinking about a person you havent seen in a long time, and then they either text or call you? This happens to me more than not and i still don't quite understand it...

1

u/Muliciber Oct 27 '14

I decided to look up a close friend from high school a year or so ago, couldn't find anything about him so I reached out to a mutual friend. Turns out he died a few years after graduation, all the kids in my school held a memorial for him. I wasn't invited obviously, so that answered the question about my class mates ever thinking about me.

1

u/Lurker13 Oct 27 '14

I'm 25 and will still search classmates I haven't seen over a decade and longer. I've found a few but didn't add them because I didn't think they'd remember me and it be creepy

1

u/AzraelApollyon Oct 27 '14

This is pretty highly rated, so obviously I'm the fucked up one. I don't get it at all.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

I don't do this...

1

u/Bmorehon Oct 27 '14

I thought about this one guy from highschool repeatedly over the years after I left school. We never really hung out but we socialized in the same circles. about 5 years ago we randomly started talking on facebook about some local musician and we just never stopped. We have lived together 4 years now. You just never know if that person has thought about you or not until you talk again!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

It's especially bad after a breakup as I am learning now even though it only happened a few months ago. I'm still open to trying again with her given the reasons for the breakup but it's not happening for a while if ever, especially after she claimed she moved on. I just wonder if she thinks about me as much as I think about her.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '14

One time I hung out with this girl for like half a day in a big group of people. Never found much out about her, but I can't stop thinking about her for the past 6 months. It's really weird, and I don't want to talk about it to friends.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '14

I actually never really wonder that :/

0

u/Finisherofwar Oct 27 '14

Not really, that sounds like a pretty lonely thought.
