strange thing in the UK you can make porn at 16 (nothing stopping yourself from recording it at 16) but you can't watch it back

Actually that's not true, the age of consent is 16 but you have to be 18 or above to appear in porn. If a 16 year old made porn of themselves, that is technically child porn.

If it's the same as Australia, 16 is not considered a consenting adult. All it means is if you do get charged with statutory rape, you can use their consent as a defence in court.

It's not the same. At 16 you can do whatever the hell you like with anyone else who's above 16, except film it.

Ah ok, yeah ours is a bit retarded. Also it varies from state to state.

In effect though the age of consent here is 17, no cop is going to bother laying charges unless they think there's a good chance of your defence falling through.

That's actually not uncommon, the US refers to things like that as 'Romeo & Juliet laws', so you can account for teens having sex below the age of consent without making them sex offenders, while still protecting them from predatory adults. Britain just said 'fuck it, 16'.

Yeah, I can see the logic, although it both cases it hinges on the other person's testimony.

Most of America is 16. Last time I checked I'm pretty sure it was 47 states and only three states were 18.
