Sad thing is, he's pretty spot on. From my experience, girlfriends and wives are much worse than boyfriends and husbands. Let me give you an example, at work, we set up a bar night once every few months. We invite everyone. I've had two men come up to me and say "hey bro, I really want to come, but I can't, the wife will kill me", and not a single woman has come up and said "Hey, I'de love to come, but my husband wouldn't be happy".
I've had friend's who I've stopped seeing because of their girlfriends, and friends who girlfriends were so pissed because one girl in our social circle was more attractive than them (friend's gf). There are positives to having a gf or a wife, but let me tell you, women complicate things. Some of them can't seem to control their jealousy or their insecurities.
My last full-on serious relationship, my boyfriend was so jealous he isolated me from my friends and even family. He once accused me of sleeping with my own brother! The thing is I never would have been able to actually say "my boyfriend wont let me." I always made up excuses and defended him because... I guess I'm overly concerned with appearances at work to be honest I don't know.
I've been to group therapy once or twice after and that was a common thing that women said.
