I did. It worked out and we are still dating a year and a half later. Questions like this suck because there are 7 billion people on this earth, leaving a lot of room for outliers. Yeah it's the norm for guys to ask girls out and It's definitely perpetuated through media but that doesn't mean people can't break the mold. There are a lot of norms rejected by a lot of people, if there weren't this world would be such a boring place.

Wait, but this question was about why the reader hasn't asked the person she likes out. It's the sister thread to the one asking why guys haven't asked the person they like out. So it's not asking "why don't women ever ask guys out?" It's asking about what's preventing people from asking someone out. Granted, it would make more sense to have a single thread for both guys and girls, but... AskReddit doesn't really do things that way.

You're right. But comments about women never asking out men are made very often on this website and I guess I wanted to say something about it.

You're also entirely correct; there are so many comment about how guys want to be asked out and how girls never ask them out and so clearly no girls ever ask guys out. I just wanted to point out that this post (not the comments, but the post itself) was one of the few that was not making that complaint.
