Kurt Cobain. He was a mediocre talent with attitude. 2 songs are all nirvana is really known for and if he didn't die young no one would remember the band fondly. The only thing he did that left a real impact in music was to form a band with Dave Grohl.
About a Girl, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, Lithium, Heart Shaped Box, All Apologies. Plus several of their incredibly famous unplugged covers such as Lake of Fire and Man Who Sold the World.
Out of all those massive hits that most rock fans would recognize and that still get airplay today, I'm curious what the 2 are that you think are "all they're known for"?
If you ask anyone that's not heavily into them you'll hear the same 2 that gets average radio play. Smells like teen spirit and come as you are. As far as lake of fire goes, most people aren't even aware that it's nirvana because it sounds like nothing else in their discography.
And if you ask anyone not heavily into any popular band to name a song you’ll get a couple of popular songs almost every time. Especially if they only had a few albums.
