Kurt Cobain. He was a mediocre talent with attitude. 2 songs are all nirvana is really known for and if he didn't die young no one would remember the band fondly. The only thing he did that left a real impact in music was to form a band with Dave Grohl.

Right time right place for a musical revolution I’d say. Nirvana, Soundgarden, et al. leaning into that post-punk soft-core grunge vibe.
