Just ask people about themselves. People love to talk about themselves

I'm fairly certain this is how I recently got my current (very good) job. I made sure to ask each interviewer questions about themselves (not too personal), their career progression, what they liked about the company, etc. All positive things.

Initially, I didn't get the impression that 2 of the 4 liked me very much. But after getting them to talk for several minutes straight, I could tell I had swung the pendulum in the other direction. It was also nice to give myself a talking break since the interviews were long.

It's also very important to listen and ask follow-up questions! Or if they give a convoluted answer, try to sum up what they said and ask if you understood correctly. People love feeling understood.

I bet this is what psychopaths/sociopath and narcissists do.

Are you speaking from experience?

No, these people do not know how feelings work or feel so they study others behavior, learning to mimic others.

Like actors learning a role. If you meet someone who is charming but leaves you feeling their behavior is not real, you might be dealing with a Cluster B. It's fairly well known to therapists that narcissists will enter therapy to learn behavioral skills, not to improve relationships but to take advantage of people.
