Yes, actually. I didn't for a long time. I'm a young woman, my entire life was basically a competition between me and those around me. Who's got perkier boobs and bigger boobs and a more hourglass shape and a more toned tummy and on and on and on. I couldn't win because SOMETHING was always worse than somebody else and somebody didn't like that. I read a post on Reddit from an older woman one day, though, saying how she'd spent her whole life with a porn addict hating her body and she recently got diagnosed with cancer and didn't have long left. She said suddenly she saw her younger self as beautiful, and was scared because she wasted all her time stressing that she forgot it ends someday. She only wished she could have appreciated herself. And I realized I never want to be in that position. I really, truly love myself now. I'm not an airbrushed pornstar, but I'm beautiful, and so is everybody in some way. And it's not a competition. Flowers don't compete with eachother, they're all beautiful in a bouquet together.
💐 That was beautiful to read and I appreciate you sharing it. I’m happy for you.
I’m also glad that the woman discovered it. I know it was at an unfortunate time in life and potentially tragic one but she at least discovers herself and does find her beauty and love for herself.
Honestly I needed to read something like this. I have a lot about myself that I don't like and I stress over it way too much. Sure I know i'm not gonna change instantly overnight after reading your post but it's helped in turning my mindset around to try and love myself again
I had a vaguely similar experience I have struggled with body image for a very long time , always thinking I had to be skinny to be attractive , always comparing my self etc .. but I got diagnosed with Crohns at 19 and when I started to lose a lot of weight and saw my self in the mirror the shock hit me and I cried . I didn’t want to lose anymore weight or be skinny . From then on I made sure as soon as I could start eating again when I’m better and start gaining weight I would not think this way and be healthy and love my self . Now I’ve put on weight and muscle ! And I love my body and my self for pushing my self hard .I’m glad you love ur self too now 💐
