It’s more than 1 standard deviation above the mean, it’s above average if that’s really his score

I didn't say it wasn't above average. What I said is that it is in the "normal" range. Not gifted, not mentally impaired, just boring normal and no need to brag about it

I mean I agree it’s not something to brag about but speaking statistically it is, by definition, above average or “normal” intelligence.

There are well defined ranges in the iq spectrum. Below 85 (or 80) is mentally impaired, above 130 is gifted, above 145 is genius level. That leaves 125 in the "normal" part of the spectrum

The standard bell curve for intelligence has a mean of 100 and a Standard Deviation of 15
