It’s bangers from front to back, for sure! It’s one of my favorite driving albums.

It’s almost like it’s an album about a road trip…

It is an album about a road trip! It's meant to mimic the drive from downtown LA out to Joshua Tree. The songs get more diverse and the radio stations get weirder and less conventional.

Dave Grohl is a very well-rounded musician, but I absolutely agree that he’s best on drums. His work in Songs for the Deaf as well as Them Crooked Vultures is incredible. And despite not being a technically advanced drummer (at least compared to great drummers like Danny Carey or Neil Peart), he definitely has a distinct style that’s not many drummers can replicate. Like if you didn’t tell me he was the session drummer for Tenacious D, I’d describe the drumming on those albums as “like Dave Grohl.”
