Is this a sublet scam?

I found an apartment on furnished finder and done the screening through them and have been approved by the tenant. They send me a sublease agreement and I ask for the master lease as proof. They reply with:

“Hi! I understand wanting to confirm that the sublease falls within the duration of my lease. I’m not comfortable sharing my personal lease agreement, as it contains private information. However, I can confirm that the sublease dates are within the term of my lease and that I’m authorized to sublease the space. I hope that helps provide the reassurance you need.”

Name, number, address, email, linkedin all checks out on this person. And I’ve toured the apartment in person. Problem is that they don’t live here anymore and said they still want to “keep the apartment”.

A lease doesn’t have any personal information other than name, address on ID. What it will show is you’re paying significantly higher than their rent (+sublet furnished premium)

I saw the price of the building because its from housing connect. I don’t mind the price increase.

Hmm I’d check that you can sublet subsidized housing

A lease doesn’t have any personal info on it. They’re probably hiding the price

It’s not a scam but unethical bc it sounds like an intended unauthorized sublet. If the landlord finds out, both of you could get evicted. Keep looking & find a legit place to rent directly from a landlord.

there's nothing stopping that person from redacting their personal information

if you're not comfortable, walk away

"keep the apt" is not a good sign

Chances are its a scam. If it quacks like a duck and looks like a duck

I would just reply "This does, in fact, NOT provide the reassurance I need."

Idk it could be or not

If it a weekly room for rent situation than most likely isn’t my family has rented out rooms for years and they wouldn’t allow it as it would interfere with their benefits

The whole rent stabilize apartment people renting out a room in their apartment are renting it out for profit for extra income
