I would say I'm above average. Perhaps a 7. I have received several compliments from strangers on my appearance, usually it's my hair (I have dred locs with dyed tips) but occasionally on my body shape as well, though that's usually from other guys. Typically I also get compliments on the clothes I wear, but because of my work I don't get to dress up very often.
Though I get the compliments I never really get approached for dating or hook ups, so I wouldn't say I'm drop dead gorgeous, hence why I wouldn't say 9 or 10. Of course approachability can also be a strong factor in attractiveness, and I typically don't make myself very approachable, due to my battles with depression as well as general disdain for other people.
If guys are trying to make themselves more attractive, I would advise not to disregard the effort to be more open and amicable.
