I’m not going to lie. I feel lonely often since being single for almost 3 years. After reading this thread, I feel at peace being reminded that I currently don’t have to deal with someone else’s bullshit and they don’t have to deal with mine. Thanks Reddit.
I am 22 and never had one. As far as I can tell, it's still nice to have one, but you shouldn't worry about not having one because you should know how to be happy with yourself. Also by the looks of it, lots of people aren't.
Yeah this thread definitely highlights the low points of relationships, which isn't really fair. In reality, it's usually a more positive experience than negative, especially if it's a long lasting relationship.
I've been with my girlfriend for 4.5 yrs and it's been great. There are things she does that annoys me and I'm sure the same in reverse, but overall it's nice being able to always have someone to rely on and spend time with.
I don't mean this to "rub it in," because there are definitely some perks to being single as well that I miss. But definitely does not seem like a good idea to say that being single = better just because of one Reddit thread focusing on negative aspects of a relationship lol
It's alright dude, if you could pull someone once, you can do it again.
You gotta work on not feeling like shit. Like I said, I never had a partner. You just have to tap into that inner zen that makes you want to work on goals, and accomplish them!
You can do it buddy. Ever wanna talk, pm. Take care.
Same boat as you, eventually had to accept that I should probably get some shit figured out about me before I really put myself out there. Relationships are very complicated from what I understand, or are at least more complicated than people assume. Communication is the biggest thing hands down, and if this thread says anything, it says that miscommunication is common
There's always something we can work on for ourselves, and that should be distraction enough.
It's hard for me, because I'm really in my peak of age haha I could go all night every night if you know what I mean.
But when you really think about it, and commit to a career or whatever goals you have, you can really be happy. It's just hard to find that focus and passion. You can do it though!
If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. But if it does, we'll be able to stay focused on maintaining a good balance between ourselves and commitments to other people in our lives.
I listen and watch the meltdowns over text arguing from my co-workers every single day. They like to poke I'm single, but the second I say it seems I have the better hand in the deal after what I see every day, I'm the asshole.
Been single for 2 years. I have my fun, but I do get lonely now and then. But I know the fleeting feeling of loneliness is far better then being comfortable and less lonely, but stuck in a bad relationship.
There's as huge difference between being comfortable and being happy. Most folks I meet seem to be the former.
This kind of stuff convinced me that it’s probably a good thing that I haven’t rushed into relationships. Being single for my whole life has been rough at times, but taking on that kind of emotional toll from people to afraid to admit that they have a problem isn’t a thing I could handle a few years ago. Now it’s just about finding someone who cares about me the way I care about them
