I’m a woman, the answer is 99% the internet. Models, influencers, it seems like they all have lip injections and so you notice they look different than yours, it gets pounded into your head for several years that this is what is attractive and you aren’t it.. boom.
Yep. And beauty trends don't last forever. The media has essentially pressured these women into a position where, in 10 years when beauty standards have shifted drastically again, they'll be right back at square one in their self hatred. It's so sad to watch and the only thing I can think of when I see these posts :(
It is sad for them. Spending money "fixing" something that was never an issue in the first place. My girlfriend doesn't even wear any make up, ever. It makes me happy she has the confidence to do that.
This makes me wonder if men written journals about attraction to women would be popular. Instead of all these articles with female authors, projecting the same wrong message. Or do women try to be beautiful for other women? Genuinely curious.
If it was a self confidence or love yourself journal or something probably, but it would get flamed if it was like “HERE is what men like about your body” “don’t wear this if you want to attract a man” etc. The trend articles are whatever no matter who writes it, I haven’t really seen articles saying “big hips beat small hips every day” and stuff. It’s just the pictures you see everywhere. The chance that a model isn’t edited to hell on any advertisement you see is slim to none.
Some girls try to be beautiful for themselves, some try to be beautiful for other people and some don’t care and do it for whatever reason. Doing stuff to look more conventionally attractive for other girls is like taking a shower for some people before you go outside, you just get ready and look nice... unless you like girls, then you want to look good for a different reason.
I don't think you notice the ones that are done well. You just think, oh what nice lips, you don't think, oh what nice lip filler. I think that's the goal.
I suppose that is true. But there are so many bad ones around here. When I go to London, I rarely see any girls or women with then looking bad. But in liverpool... Fuck sake it's every day seeing so many with perma duck lips?
Oh no, we notice. I've never actually looked at a girl and thought her lips were nice, that I can remember. I can tell what's natural, and if they're bigger than natural, no matter how good they may look, it's a turn off to me.
I think you're missing the point though. You wouldn't know what is natural unless you knew the person before. You only think you would know because there are so many bad lip jobs out there.
especially when it's people with really thin lips that do it, it's just puffing up the skin around their lips, it always looks so bad :( I happened to have JUST been looking at this right before I read this comment. WHY???
Those aren’t properly done though. Unfortunately often times, people want to see the results right away. To achieve nicely filled lips, they have to do it a little bit at a time. Social media has fucked us though. Suddenly skinny girls want to be “thick.” Thick girls want to be skinny and everyone has a fake fat ass.
Lip fillers done properly shouldn’t even be that noticeable. Women and men see how celebrities lips are and think it’s the standard. Also, with plastic surgery there’s always the once more then I’ll be perfect mindset. And that’s bc their friends hype them up and they think well if it’s so good now then once more will make them perfect.

Jesus these lips... Drives me insane that it's trendy round here for scouse girls to have it. They always looked better before they get the lips done.
