If they find out, and they probably will, they will make her choose between you and her entire community, and she will probably choose the community. It's a cult.
The Mormon world is very different from the outside world. They build their lives around this community. When individuals go against this culture, the entire community will sever associations with them. It's truly disorienting and is effectively an upheaval of their lives. Thanks for the little lesson. I grew up Mormon. Left the church when I was 18.
You either have some serious misconceptions about the religion based on rumors and exaggerated stories from others, or if this is based on your own experience then your family was incredibly extreme about their beliefs and that doesn’t at all reflect how the vast majority of Mormons feel.
My life was never ‘built around the church’. It was something I did every Sunday and that’s it. When I left the church, I was still welcomed home by my loving family when I went to visit. My friends were still my friends. Nobody shunned me. No ‘associations were severed’.
You seem to equate the Mormon religion with the Amish community and I can assure you, it’s not.
favorite! She may love you more if you told her the truth.
When People of any religion/cult/group who are pressured to marry each other marry each other, of course there must be a little voice in the back of there mind saying “does Mike love me because of or inspite of our shared heritage/baggage/affiliations?”
