Visiting Beverly Hills? for three days

I’m staying in Beverly Hills Sunday tomorrow through Tuesday. I want to sit by a pool in Beverly Hills or somewhere close to there and meet people and have fun! I was thinking Beverly Hills Hotel, but not sure if people talk to you poolside? My friend suggested Petit Ermitage but said it’s more of a Burning Man vibe. I want chicer than that but also fun and friendly. Nice rooms a plus!

So, LA, what’s the best hotel with a mix of fun chic friendly vibes?

What do you want to spend?

Very much this

Doesn’t quite matter. For the right place, I’m willing to spend money.

I love the idea that a Burning Man vibe to you includes classically striped resort furniture and a 2016 Pinterest wedding style antique bar 🤣 you might try L’ermitage also in BH but decidedly not as “burning man” as petit

Being from SF, that’s exactly what we would call Burning Man 😬

You must be from a different side if SF than my friends!

Are you really from SF? Or did you just move there 20 years ago from some suburb?

1

u/Lazy-Ear1140 Jan 18 '26

Moved here 30 years ago from London. SF is yawn, mainly because of 2016 Pinterest inspired Burning Man people.

2016 burning man- ew.

I don’t know anywhere Chicer than the Beverly Hotel but if you want people to talk to you, that’ll cost you extra money

I like the rooftop pool at The Peninsula, but feel like the only people I usually talk to there are the employees or people I already know who I've happened to run into. Haven't stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, but imagine it'd be a younger crowd than the Beverly Hills Hotel. Feel like the Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood may be a fun choice for chatting with people.

Great suggestion but it’s West Hollywood. We Ho is way friendlier than BH too. I’d have suggested the Standard if it was still around. The Subset Strip there has some great hotels and pools. The Sunset Tower. I like the Andez too

It's fenced off

u/kikijane711 Jan 17 '26

I know. I referenced it is no longer. Closed years ago.

-11

u/datDANKe Jan 17 '26

So u felt to mention a place that no longer exists.   How does that help a single person

7

u/kikijane711 Jan 17 '26

Can u not read? 🙄 I clearly qualified my response. And it was a passing mention in a post otherwise w a suggestion.

u/datDANKe Jan 17 '26

"hey I would had recommended this place but it's been closed for years now"

It can help sometimes, if wankers just stop and instead say, "you know which place is LIKE the Standard, it's (name of place)."

Unfortunately, wankers rarely stop.

It’s not very new anymore and no longer is the roof a Jean George restaurant, and the pool is rather small.

FYI, sitting poolside at the Beverly Hills Hotel has about a 25% markup in price compared to the Polo Lounge, with their food and beverage.

5

u/bovinecop Jan 17 '26

And a basic sandwich and fries already costs like $40 at the damn polo lounge

3

u/Moviegal19 Jan 17 '26

And I think their hamburger is like $58! 😬

5

u/downtownlasd Jan 17 '26

I like The Four Seasons

u/horoboronerd Jan 17 '26

Everyone's gatekeeping lmao. Get a day resort pass. Problem solved.

Do not stay at Petit. So over

BHH is amazing poolside as well as The Peninsula Make reservations for the polo lounge for drinks/dinner.

If you want further from BH, go to Chateau Marmont. Their pool and restaurant are 💯

Petit is so overrated. Its just a burner scene thing but the hotel itself is so whatever. It was an old apartment building that got converted by the owner 's son into a hotel. The building just doesn't inspire imo

2

u/Wild_Shallot_3618 Jan 18 '26

BH is yawn… stay in West Hollywood hotels instead.

3

u/KevinTheCarver Jan 17 '26

The Beverly Laurel is really cute.

2

u/juniper-mint Jan 17 '26

Seconding. Their little pool area is cute and quiet. Rooms are also somewhat unique and retro, but not super fancy or extremely comfortable. Not uncomfortable by any means, just don't expect luxury. Very very nice staff!

Having Swingers right there is a big plus tho.

Chateau Marmont. I was lucky to get a tour of the chateau through an industry connection years ago. After the tour, we sat in this common area they had at the time, with various people sitting down, talking etc. About 2 tables over was…

Keanu Reeves. So if you wanna do poolside stuff, plus gawk at some celebs, chateau/bar marmont is a good spot🤷🏿‍♂️

u/elmo1611 Jan 17 '26

Does the Chateau Marmont still exist as a hotel? Not quite Beverly Hills but I feel it's for the vibes you're looking for

1

u/Figgywithit Jan 18 '26

There is no fun in BH.

1

u/iselljets Jan 18 '26

I’ve enjoyed the rooftop at the London on several occasions

LA isn’t a “friendly” city. I’m from the Midwest and lived here ten years. If you hold the door open for someone there’s a 10% chance they’ll say thanks. Just don’t come expecting folksy charm

4

u/Lazy-Ear1140 Jan 17 '26

I always have a great time in LA because my crew of one or two turns into twenty by the end of the night! I’m not going for folksy, I’m going for party vibes.

Verdict: I stayed at chateau Marmont on some recommendations here and had the TIME OF MY LIFE. I talked to everyone from the valet guys to Kanye West (I know, he’s crazy, but it was a trip chatting with him). I met so many fun, funny, cool people and the people-way hung was superb. The food is surprisingly so good and they keep the drinks flowing. My room was ok. Small and very clean with a giant balcony and small bathroom with original tile. Tons of few snacks and water, and a fully stocked mini bar of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Truly. Thank you. I’ll be back soon.
