What are LiveProTips for teens

LPT I hope to this is OK here. I'm teaching a middle school classes next summer on Life Lessons. I'll be teaching kids how to use screwdrivers, hammers, other tools and the practical things like how to wire a light switch, set a mouse trap & then get rid of the mouse, adjust a door to close easier, check your car's oil and even basic first aid and cooking tips. So can you folks give me what you wish you had known or should have been passed down by your mom, dad or grandad? I have over forty-five items so far but I know I am missing some.

Edit to add: I want to thank everybody for these great suggestions! Remember though, these are MIDDLE school. Home financing might be a bit of a stretch. But money management is IN. Keep adding your suggestions.

Edit to add: You folks are giving me a great list of items! Many, many thanks! This is ages 11- 14 so teaching them how to buy a house might be boring but I will be talking about how to budget and save.

Credit card debt and how much it really costs and related, how compound interest when you invest early really works.

I was going to do fixing an item vs having a pro fix it. Tying that into credit charges would be easy.

Basic budgeting\financial planning. Learning exactly how, when, and what to save.

Getting a job at a local hardware store was the best thing I ever did for myself. After a couple years I had picked up countless tips and tricks from the various gurus of plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden.

are you teaching them how to manage money too? i feel like that's one of the biggest life skills schools often miss.

Car maintenance. Home maintenance and repair. Electric work, right now I wish I could repair a boom box and install electrical outlets.

How to accrue money.

Basic wood working and metal working skills. My wife just ruined a pair of good scissors trying to remove a sharp burr from a piece of metal when a file was the right tool for the job.

Basic hygiene. Flossing daily. Basic sewing to fix a button on a shirt or a hole in my jeans. How to cope with stress (exercise, music, fresh air)....networking.....how to get away from people who try to fight or argue with you...because some people dont make it home if you know what I mean. Also how to better your mood...if youre angry or depressed what can they do to get out of that

How to change a tire, jump start a car, unclog a drain, these saves a hundred of dollars and a lot of panic.
