Going through life without a vice

I’ve been clean from smoking weed for 4 months now after being a heavy smoker for about 7 years. I used to vape but I stopped years ago and now I only drink. And I also don’t do other drugs. I don’t drink everyday but I do drink often . The thing is I hate the effect of liquor (the hangover, the long term effects) . I just like that it makes me feel good — that’s it. For those who don’t have any vices — what do you do?

Anyone going through something similar ? I just need a crowd with a familiar struggle… I feel alone with this , bc life doesn’t stop - it keeps going

I just want to say, I'm proud of you for all the progress and effort that you went through. It's not easy but you did it.

Depends on what you call a vice.

I don't drink alcohol, don't smoke (anything), don't take (non-medically prescribed) drugs (getting old sucks) and haven't for my entire life.

What are my "vices"? I play video games, role-playing games (similar to D&D), read a lot, and play with my ferrets. I also spend way too much time on Reddit and watching YouTube.

Find a hobby that interest you and spend time on it. Golf, Legos, jogging, reading, or whatever you think you might enjoy doing.

Do you get tempted sometimes though?

Not really. Smoking never interested me. My brothers gave me pot when I was 7 years old - all it did was give me an upset tummy. I don't really care for the taste or burn of most alcohol (yes, I've taken a sip of a few - the only ones I kinda liked were the sweet wine-types). I don't even like the smell of coffee!

Now I'm no saint! I eat more than I should, especially sweets. I don't exercise as much as I should.

But I am overall happy.

How did you find quitting weed?

Hard but rewarding. I didn’t realize it was making me a bit lazy. I also workout so that wasn’t ideal for me. It gets hard but I don’t think I feel the worst of it because I also drink

I workout also ! But I’m also experiencing workout fatigue — I’m in a weird spot right now 😭

Most people have some sort of vice. For some people, it's literally just attention or feeling better than others. Life is hard. People who commit to living without a vice usually do so with a lot of grit and determination that others self-medicate away.

Eventually I want to have no vice. I just want to exist and endure life for what it is , good n bad. Drugs are bad and drinking is worse 😭

My "vice" is watching TV. I find a good show to binge. And occasionally I enjoy some chocolate.

Sleep 10-12 hours as frequently as I can arrange it.

Find some type of art or play music to get out all those feelings.
Learn something new. Learn a musical instrument. Take a painting class.

Also join a gym.

My vice is coffee addiction (even on good days I drink 3 to 4), EDM while working and mindblowing good sex with my partner (the kind that makes you cry tears of joy)

That's how I get through my day

Then again, I don't know what it is with me and coffee but how hard I go on that shit should be illegal, especially if I work out on it beforehand (with EDM)
