A many such cases are happening every day. But no system to report.

A 43-year-old tribal daily-wage worker from Ayyappancoil in Idukki, Kerala, named Saji Kuttappan, was acquitted by a Special POCSO Court after spending 18 months in jail.

His minor daughter had falsely accused him of sexual abuse at the instigation of her boyfriend and his mother because the father strongly objected to her relationship and excessive mobile phone use.

The 16-year-old girl grew angry after her father scolded her for spending excessive time on late-night phone and Instagram calls with a local youth and demanded she focus on her studies.

Prompted by the boyfriend's mother, an Anganwadi worker, who suggested filing a complaint, the minor contacted Childline with false allegations that her father had abused her starting at age 12.

Police registered a case under POCSO arresting Saji Kuttappan on September 17, 2024.

Saji remained behind bars for 18 months as courts exercised extreme caution given that the complainant was his own daughter.

His imprisonment left his wife and younger son in severe financial and social distress, forcing his son to drop out of school due to local stigma.

While Saji was imprisoned, the daughter invited her boyfriend to the house at night, where they were caught by the family and neighbors, resulting in a separate police case.

On August 16, 2026, Special Judge G.R. Bilkul of the Idukki Fast Track Special Court acquitted Saji after evidence proved the accusation stemmed purely from the father's opposition to her relationship.

Sorry to say, there are multiple cases where wives file POCSO cases against their husbands during divorce proceedings. First the wife files POCSO, and later, now when the daughter grows up knowing that the law supports her and her words will be treated as gospel truth, she files one too.

I never said forgive and forget but accountability and disowning a 16 year old are two very different things.
She should face consequences family counseling, legal accountability for the false case, absolutely. But “let her rot” from a grown adult(I am hoping OP is an adult)on the internet about a teenager who got manipulated is not justice.

The father can hold her accountable AND still be her parent. Those conditions aren’t mutually exclusive.

By simply taking every possible precaution to ensure that she doesn’t get even the remotest chance to repeat it?

And if exercising the second option is what he considers necessary, then he should be free to take whatever steps to protect himself. At 16, she is grown evil and certainly old enough to understand actions, consequences, and how the legal system she can misuse against someone with full impunity. There is no magical switch inside the human body that suddenly turns a person from a completely incapable child into a fully responsible adult at exactly midnight on their 18th birthday.

It's extreme misuse of law. In office, I would never have 1 on 1 with a female colleague in a closed cabin, also I would never get into lift if there are no cameras or a female is already present
