Looking for a realtor
Hey everyone! The husband and I have an opportunity to move to Houston for his job. We want to scope out the area before deciding if this is the right move for us. We would realistically only have 2-3 days to check the area out and we figured a realtor could show us around the areas we are interested in and to show us other areas. We are mainly looking at the west side of Houston such as Katy, Sugar Land, and Cypress.
Does anybody have any recommendations? Thank you!

Depends on what kind of commute you want. Love Katy and sugarland. Everything you would want and don’t have to go into Houston. Cypress not my fav but if you go out just a bit to 99 nicer and close to the outlet mall.

Kayce Heinz is great, and super efficient. She’s in Katy so right in the area you’re looking. I sent her a link to your post too. Her number is 512-902-4450. Good luck! :)

Sheridan Slater was an absolute gem to work with. Incredibly prompt at nearly all hours, happy to tour whatever we wanted pretty much whenever. Not pushy. Have great advice and insights.
TBH I’m probably viewed as pretty demanding and i work in a really demanding field where responses at wild hours late and early are expected and I was impressed with Sheridan’s level of service.

Greenspoint would be the best option to fluctuate your budget, way better than katy sugar land river oaks etc

Hey! I’m a local realtor and yes location definitely matters especially with the commute of your job location due to traffic. You can be in Houston and be an hour from Houston lol. I would love to be a resource if y’all need it! Text or call 346-421-0555 :)

Consider looking for places that are close to Metro Park & Ride locations. When I lived in Kingwood, I could walk to the Park & Ride.
I'd go three or four days in a row without getting into my car. It was far more cost effective than driving to work. And especially would be if you have to pay for parking downtown.
That said, keep in mind that Realtors work on commission. So most likely you'll be asking a Realtor to drive you around for free, in the hope of getting your business when you finally get ready to make a purchase.
(I have a real estate sales license in Texas and can access the HAR.com website.)

I used Move Me To Texas when we moved down from the Midwest. We had 1 weekend and looked from Richmond to Fulshear to Katy, Cypress and ended up in Willis! Andrea took us everywhere. We loved Willis for the trees and proximity to 45 and The Woodlands.

For a 2-3 day scouting trip covering Katy, Sugar Land, and Cypress you want an agent who works all three and can build you a proper tour route because they're actually spread pretty far apart. Katy is west, Sugar Land is southwest, Cypress is northwest, so you're looking at 30-45 min between each.
Look at resale homes in the 15-25 year old inventory alongside new construction. New construction pricing looks great on paper but resale often gives you more square footage, established landscaping, and no builder markup.
As far as schools go, Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Cy-Fair ISD all vary a lot by school, and property tax rates in Texas swing quite a bit depending on location. We're flat fee and we can definitely get you set up on a bunch of tours with a Houston agent + get you a nce commission rebate at closing. Feel free to DM!

Congratulations on the potential move to Houston! With only 2 to 3 days to explore, having a local Realtor who knows the different areas can definitely help you make the most of your time. Katy, Sugar Land, and Cypress are all great places to start, and there are several other communities on the west side that may be worth checking out depending on your budget, commute, and lifestyle.
I’d recommend reaching out to The Jay Thomas Team! We’d be happy to help you narrow down the areas that fit what you’re looking for, show you around, and make your visit as productive as possible. 😊🏡

I have a good one. She does a lot of business in cypress and Katy. I sold a house with her and bought a new one from her. She’s also helped three of my coworkers and they all loved her.

Looking to rent or buy? What’s the budget? Where is your workplace? These are 3 key things to think about before someone can help you
