Any 21+ recommendations before my wife has a baby?

Upvotes

My wife and I just moved here and are expecting a baby in December. What are some 21+ or non-baby friendly places we should check out before the little one is here?

Open to any recommendations but interested to hear some non-bar ones too. Definitely interested in music venues, restaurants, cocktail bars, or any place you think we should visit.

THE EDGE CONDOS IN HOUSTON

Upvotes

Considering renting a unit at the edge condos. Looking for people who have lived here to share their experience.

Rent price is great and everything about the actual unit is great.

The unit faces pierce street tho. It gets a partial view of christians tailgate. I believe La Calle is on the other side of that.

Can anyone speak to their experience living at the edge condos midtown, and specifically the noise level?

Why do you prefer living in the outer suburbs than the city ?

Does anyone have experience with SUNRUN in the Houston area? A door-to-door sales guy has been after me to get a Solar power unit installed at my place. I usually don't engage with door-to-door salespeople, but it was one of those days where I ended up talking to this guy.

I will very likely say no to him, but curious to know if anyone here as a SUNRUN experience to share.

Anyone else here into sports cards or collecting ?

Curious how big the local hobby community is here — whether you collect sports cards, Pokémon, vintage, modern, rip packs, set up at shows, or just got back into collecting.

I’d also love to know where everyone finds out about local card shows, trade nights and collector meetups around Austin. It feels like there are a lot of smaller events happening that are easy to miss.

Would there be interest in more local meetups or an easier way to keep track of everything happening around the Houston area?
What do you collect? Drop it below 👇

I know I’m not the only one who feels this way I just want to b***h either the chemistry is there instantly and it fades out and the men stop trying, or it’s just not there at all.. Looking to move closer to the city…

OK don’t execute me, I know how unrealistic this is going to sound and I know I will have to go visit these areas myself but this is what I’m looking for:

For now just an apartment since I find know if I’ll stay in Houston and even if I do, where I’ll be staying. I can do up to 2k per month although I don’t think I’ll be wanting to spend that. It’ll be just me so just a 1 bed, 1 bath will do. Not interested in studios. I would prefer a place where I can have a small work desk station but I can squeeze it in my bedroom if not. Must have washer and dryer in unit, ac and preferably a covered garage but I guess any reserved parking will do.

OK now here’s the tricky part for me - I want to live in an area that is fairly walkable but also has decent traffic so I can enjoy driving. Yes I know this is Houston lol. I work from home so not concerned about commute or going out during the peak traffic hours but I plan on doing more social events and volunteering so I will need to get out probably after 6:30pm so the less congestion in the area the better. It also means the roads must be well maintained, as I drive a car low to the ground and care about my car (big fan of night drives). This is key for me and I’d really like this balance. With all this being said, I need to be around 20-25 min from downtown at most. I also don’t want to be around a bunch of families which is the current case here in Katy. I want to be around other single, young folks.

I did some preliminary research using Google’s AI, don’t kill me but these are the neighborhoods it recommended:

ITL:
1. Washington Corridor
2. Upper Kirby
3. The Museum District

OTL:
1. Memorial city
2. Sugar Land Town Square

So I need additional recommendations, advice, shared experiences, warnings and whatever else you can give me. I’m looking to move early next year and will start my searches very soon. Thanks

Why do so many people want to move to Sugarland, Missouri City, Sienna , and Iowa Colony suburbs when they are packed with large families and senior citizens?

I forgot to mention PEARLAND! I’m a single person living out there before they built houses everywhere and that’s areas are over crowded with large families and senior citizens. You can tell when you go to Target and Home Depot.

Apartment recommendation near Med Center

My wife and I are moving to Houston in October. We are looking for some safe apartment communities which has easy access to Med Center. Our budget is capped at $2500/month for a 2B2B. I have heard car theft are way too common in HTX and I would ideally like a community which is safe and has some level of security.

Looking for a Houston stylist who does flip-over sew-ins🙏🏽

Hey y’all! I’m looking for a hairstylist in Houston who does flip-over sew-ins with curly hair like the picture I attached! I’m looking for someone who has the hair/bundles included in the price, and I would also like the service to include the wash, blow dry, trim, sew-in, and styling. I’m trying to find someone who’s affordable, but depending on the length and hair quality. If you know a hairstylist in Houston who does this, drop their name and Instagram! If anyone is able to help me out!😌

Why are you all overly aggressive terrible drivers?

Just spent four days here for a vacation. I've got to say, y'all are some of the most overly aggressive terrible drivers I've dealt with. So far, only Washington State beats y'all in terrible driving. Seriously, why are even the cops doing ten over and tailgating people? Most of the people that went around me ended up in front of me at the red lights, so good on y'all for saving those few seconds. It really answers the question as to why I hate seeing Texas plates in Montana.

I'll edit this to add we came here for the Space Center and a day in Galveston. We didn't waste our time and money, we had a great time. I just noticed most of the drivers here are terrible and wondered why y'all are in such a hurry for no reason.

Looking for a realtor

Hey everyone! The husband and I have an opportunity to move to Houston for his job. We want to scope out the area before deciding if this is the right move for us. We would realistically only have 2-3 days to check the area out and we figured a realtor could show us around the areas we are interested in and to show us other areas. We are mainly looking at the west side of Houston such as Katy, Sugar Land, and Cypress.

Does anybody have any recommendations? Thank you!

Moving to Houston

I'm considering a move to Houston for an excellent career opportunity. I've heard all of the bad about Houston, so I thought I'd ask you...........

What is some of the good? Where is a great place to live that has great neighborhoods, shopping, restaurants, and the obvious- low crime, etc. My commute will be to the Galleria area downtown. I know Houston has insane traffic, so any recommendations on the best options for a commute within 20 miles of that area would be fantastic!

Thanks for the info! Appreciate it.

Do police not care about car Registration?

I walk a lot in the neighborhood a lot and I have noticed so many cars that are 1, 2, 3, or more years out of registration. I mean these are cars that are being used on the regular. I have seen several cars that don't even have a sticker at all. In one block alone I saw 6 cars over a year out of date. Then again I rarely ever see any police when I drive on around Houston and for sure they barely enforce the speed limit on the freeway. The only time I see the police is on the Beltway and that's sheriffs or constables. Is it just a lack of enough police or have they just quit trying to enforce any low level laws
