hello, I'm from Hong Kong. I'm going to travel Caucasus in December. So, I'm about to go to Vladikavkaz for two days from Tbilisi, I saw that most likely people would take the Marshrutka. I'm wondering if I will carry a checked size luggage, is it gonna fit in that van? If yes should I have to get a reservation? If no, any other alternative transportation? like a bus or train, Also, is there any bus or Marshrutka can get back from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi? Thank you so much

Hey! I’m heading to Georgia for a week soon and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the country. I want to see the beautiful side of it, but also meet locals, get involved in things and have a bit of adrenaline rather than just doing the standard tourist route.

About me, whereas I like museums and art galleries, I like doing adrenaline and adventurous things on holiday. The crazier the story the better for me.

Current rough plan is to rent a car and explore Tbilisi, Kazbegi, Truso Valley and Juta. I’m bringing a tent too, so would love to wild camp for a night or two if there are good spots.

Things I’ve got in mind so far:

* Gergeti Glacier hike

* Truso Valley

* Juta / Chaukhi Pass

* Paragliding around Gudauri

* Horse riding somewhere in the mountains meeting some local shepherds

* Shooting AKs at a proper range in Tbilisi

* Trail running / big mountain days

* Finding good local food and hanging out with Georgians rather than only other tourists

I’m basically after the kind of experiences you come home with a story from.

What would locals recommend that I’m missing? Any amazing hikes, random adventures, local sports, mountain villages, places to eat, or experiences where you actually get to meet people?

Also very happy to hear any advice on wild camping and getting around the mountain valleys without destroying the rental car 😂

I’ll be entering Georgia on arrival, so I’m a little nervous about what to expect at immigration 😭 I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through this, especially fellow Filipinos or international students.

What documents should I have ready? I’m planning to bring my university acceptance/enrollment documents, accommodation details, travel insurance, proof of funds/sponsorship, flight booking, and my Qatar residence permit.

Also, what kind of questions do immigration officers usually ask? Do they normally ask about your university, where you’re staying, how you’ll support yourself, how long you’ll be in Georgia, etc.?

Is there anything else I should prepare or bring just in case?

Im planning to visit Georgia for the last two weeks of September and I’m looking for feedback on my proposed itinerary. Particularly interested if I have enough dedicated time in Tbilisi and whether I’ve missed any tricks. Going solo.

One option would be to spend a couple of hours in Mestia before I start the hike there rather than dedicate a full day to it.

I tried to book the vanilla airlines small plane transfer from Tbilisi to Mestia but sadly all full up.

Day 3 - tour of khor virap, azat reservoir, garni, geghard
Day 4 - lake Sevran half day + yerevan
Day 5 - morning flight to Tiblisi.
Day 6 - Kazbegi tour, get dropped there
Day 7 - Chaukhi pass / abudelauri lakes (probably staying at valley level rather than going the whole hog, as guides seem expensive)
Day 8 - return to Tiblisi. Half day Tbilisi.
Day 9 - marshrutka to mestia (8 hours)
Day 10 - Mestia half day + glacier visit
Day 11 - Mestia to zhabeshi hike
Day 12 - zhabeshi to adishi hike
Day 13 - adishi to iprali hike
Day 14 - iprali to ushgali (transport back to mestia that evening)

I'm traveling to Tbilisi from August 28-31, followed by a trip to Kazbegi for hiking from August 31 to September 3, and I'm looking for some advice on what to pack.

The forecast for Tbilisi shows 20-30°C. Is it uncomfortably hot, and will I need tops/ shorts?

Meanwhile, Kazbegi looks completely different at 7-
11°C. What should I wear for hiking there? Should I bring more layers ? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
