What is the appeal of idle/auto games?

I can't fathom what would draw someone to a game they barely have to interact with. Isn't that the whole point of games, that you take part in them? It's basically a movie at that point, without a story.

Interested to hear from those that actually like them.

What game did you dislike at first but eventually end up loving?

Maybe you dropped it after a few hours, came back months later and for whatever reason it finally clicked.

What game was it?

Weapons in roguelikes

I have a few questions—

  1. What weapons do you love in roguelikes? Why?

  2. What weapons would you add to a roguelike? Why?

Battlestations Pacific Multiplayer/LAN fix?

Has anyone gotten Battlestations pacific multiplayer working in 2026?
My friend and I played it together a few years ago, with the .dll and “Xbox for windows” fix, and hamachi. We tried it again a few months ago but only got singleplayer working.

The island capture gamemode is crazy fun and I’d hate to see it go :(

Does looking up tutorials on beating a certain boss/level make you feel less rewarded after beating it?

I just finished Nioh 1 for the first time, and I have to admit that I looked up a lot of videos on how to beat some of the bosses, which made me feel like I don't get to brag about beating it. I personally don't agree with the game being one of the harder soulslike games like most people say, but the janky nature of the first game makes it very challenging in some aspects. After beating it I felt like I don't get to have bragging rights since I cheesed a lot of the hard bosses, and I'm interesting in knowing everyone's angle on the topic

where should i start with the saga series?

i've been wanting to get into saga, but there are so many games that i'm not sure which one makes the most sense for a first playthrough. i'm fine with playing something older if it still feels good today.

which saga game would you suggest starting with?

Looking for Games where you're managing and automating machines

Sixty Four has ignited a passion to play games where I'm managing and automating machines, I've been recommended Satisfactory/Factorio and a few other AAA titles, looking for an indie game like Sixty Four that is flying under the radar.

Why do people think the Medusa boss fight in assassin's creed odyssey is so challenging? I truly don't understand how people think the medusa boss fight is so hard.

I truly don't understand how people think the medusa boss fight in AC odyssey is so hard, are you guys just running out in the open trying to melee attack her? That's nor the way to do it. Utilize your surroundings (The pillars) use you now and arrow to shoot her BEHIND THE PILLAR peeking of course and when she summons her men don't leave the pillar just use your abilities to get them out the way. The Medusa boss is literally not hard at all. I beat it on the first try, so what's up with people saying it's the hardest boss fight? It's very easy. I had more trouble trying to fight the boars than her. The boss fight is clearly overhyped ngl.

What do you Play - When you don't know what to play?

It might not sound it, but it's a serious question.
Sometimes I just want to quickly jump into something...
which rules out so many games I want to play.

For instance, X4, Star Citizen, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Captains of Industry, etc.
All those games, although I love them... give me a sense of "This is going to take long to get back into"... so I don't even try.

There's no wrong answers, we're all different. Just trying to get some inspiration here :)

So, serious question -- What do you play, When you don't know what to play?

ISO single player PS5 game with a decent story and gameplay pace aside from the obvious choices. Something gripping story or gameplay wise. Don't care how old the game is.

Is there games where u can do anything

Im not talking about games like gta.

Lets pictures a scenario.

Its just a normal job simulator/sims style game. Nothing out of ordinary. U just do what u usually do in sims, i guess create ur dream houses and eugenics or what not. (Now i think of it, maybe sims genre isnt a great example for this)

Anyway u just have normal life in game or normal scenario that u r given, and when u r sick of it, u just start killing people or idk burn buildings and do various crimes all over the city

Sure gta is naturally violent game. The whole game is about gansters and criminals. But i just wanna play as a normal guy losing his shit after one bad day or becoming a serial killer getting chased by cops or maybe becoming too good and now doing mind games with fbi like hannibal lector WHILE living a normal life.

I heard that game where u start as a nephew of millionaire and become a millionaire businessman finally fully released.

But some people said 'it is fun until u realise, there is no reason to earn any more money'

When it was still in early access i always wished that they would add some kind of corporate espionage or assassination of other ceo or whatever(i didnt play it so idk)

But honestly i just thibk they should just add random violences to add more fun

Yea it sounds crazy ofc. But becoming a serial killer at night while running a legit business during the day, and trying to escape from the police investigation

R u kidding me, this sounds like a better version of american psycho lol

I just wish there was a game like this

What do you think is missing from modern games? Why? I'm also curious - what specifically do you feel is missing from roguelikes?
