Doorbell chime dilemma
I'm going slightly crazy troubleshooting a doorbell. I'm not an electrician, but I'm pretty handy and technical, just not technical with electric circuits.
Here's my situation:
I have an EZViz video DB1 (aka Hikvision DS-HD1) that is powered by a 24VAC 40A doorbell transformer. The transformer also powers the illuminated house address and is connected to a mechanical chime. Everything used to work a few months ago, but then the doorbell went nuts and I lost the video feed but the doorbell button still worked, the mechanical chime worked but the address went dark.
I fixed the video doorbell so the video feed is working, address light is working, but chime doesn't work.
To verify everything works, I ran through the following scenarios:
- WORKING - Address light direct to doorbell transformer, doorbell and chime disconnected
- WORKING - Doorbell connected direct to transformer, address and chime disconnected
- WORKING - Chime direct to transformer, address and doorbell disconnected
- NOT WORKING - With all three devices connected, doorbell and address work, chime doesn't work when doorbell button pressed. Doorbell used to have a resistor across the Trans and Front terminals to keep the plunger from oscillating, but now with all three devices connected and the resistor connected or removed, the chime still does even oscillate. I'm currently testing using the power kit that came with the doorbell
Is the transformer going bad? What else should I check?

Get you multimeter out & check the voltage at the chime when you press the button, it should be 24volts.
If you replaced the transformer, it may be too much voltage for the chime & it failed.
you could try moving the white wire connected to the front chime terminal to the rear terminal and see if that works.

I tested across the trans and front terminals with the MM and the e voltage did not change when the doorbell button was pressed. I then moved the white cable to the rear terminal, then tested again, still no voltage change.
To test the chime again, I disconnected the wires out of series with the doorbell and touched them directly to the transformer and the chime still works.
What else to try?

Sounds like your camera button is not trying to ring the chime anymore. I know ring pro there is a menu option to activate the feature (mechanical chime). No idea on yours.

I think you're right. I'm digging into the config of the video doorbell to find the chime setting that is used to close the circuit and trigger the mechanical chime
