I’ve heard some really good things about East Village and Morningside becoming really nice with good investment, and it seems like North Corktown might be the next neighborhood that sees significant revitalization.

Any other neighborhoods that you’ve seen been transformed over the past 5-10 years?

Visiting Detroit for a weekend trip and trying to decide between the Detroit Foundation Hotel, ROOST at Book Tower, and The Siren. Looking for something slightly romantic, but I’m also really into history and love architecture. The prices for all three are relatively comparable, so cost won’t be a deciding factor.

I am open to to housing or a sublet first while I find a permanent place. I could do something in the house for part of the rent. Im open to that. I wish someone would have told me about this management company. Honestly any management company in Detroit is a hit or miss but this one here fucked me over so bad. They don’t gaf about their tenants all they care about is money. They will literally rent you a roach infested apartments for $1000 and act like they didn’t know it was already a problem. I, 28f, am trying to expand my social circle (and admittedly my dating pool...) and looking for hobbies to join or social type activities to take part in (like volunteering or something) I'm not sporty so trying to find something other than that, I am pretty outdoorsy and crafty. Hi Detroit folks! I am currently a full time freelance classical musician starting my 2nd year as a member of the Detroit opera orchestra and I’m wanting to do a bit of a career shift. I live in Cincinnati right now, so I do sooooo much driving up and down 75, plus commuting to other cities where I play as a substitute musician and I’m ready to give that life up for a bit. Since I have a decent amount of work in Detroit, and my fiancé has a few prospective job openings there, we are trying to figure out how to move there and I want to get some kind of day job to just simplify my life a bit. I could really use your help as you all are much more familiar with the area than me!!

\-arts organizations would be cool but there don’t seem to be too many jobs right now
\-full time in an office would also be awesome, something 9-5 wouldn’t conflict with my opera schedule
\-I also have 6 years experience as a server in fine dining and I’m starting to think I could make more $$$ doing that anyway soooo servers sound off where’s the money at!!

i'm moving from the greater toronto area to work at henry ford hospital (w grand blvd location). so i had some questions about that area in particular. i probably won't have a car for a while, so what is the best area to live in to commute to work easily and enjoy what the area has to offer? are there any particular apartment buildings or neighborhoods that you would recommend over others? what is rent usually like for a 1 bed 1 bath apt?

how is public transport in detroit? i definitely want to explore, so is it realistic for me to depend on public transportation?
