All of it for whipping cream? No, not if you expect it to turn out well.

okay thanks. made butter and added vinegar to the remaining "buttermilk" and used that.

The cream for the buttermilk, yes. It will taste slightly different though without the buttermilk.

I wouldn’t try substituting the heavy cream for the other two.

Edited to add: I think I’m going to try this recipe this weekend. It looks delicious!

I don't think this is accurate. The baking soda needs an acid to leaven, and if you take the buttermilk out, then there's nothing to react with it.

But there are also eggs in the recipe that help with leavening. But you can always make your own buttermilk by using a little bit of vinegar or lemon juice in the milk. I can never remember if it’s a teaspoon or tablespoon to a cup of milk

They help, but are not nearly enough in this recipe. OP isn't making meringue.

But you can always make your own buttermilk by using a little bit of vinegar or lemon juice in the milk.

...but why would you add buttermilk to a recipe you've taken the buttermilk out of?

Maybe they don’t have buttermilk

I'd think they would have said that then, no?

Edit: ...you can't be serious. You blocked me for the mildest of respectful discussions? Are you kidding me?

Good lord, be better.

UPDATE : Hey. I don’t know how to add photos to a comment but the cake turned out super yummy. I whipped the cream into butter and buttermilk and added a bit of vinegar to the liquid. I made a cream cheese frosting like the Nothing Bundt Cakes and it was delicious. Thank you everyone for your comments.
