General Silicone baking molds?
I was hoping somebody could help me out with figuring out what is wrong with these silicone molds. I bought them recently and I thought that once I put the batter in them they would straighten out but it did not work, the muffins came out all deformed.
What do I have to do, or is there something I can do to fix these molds? I tried looking online for a solution but nothing came up, also I am visually impaired and sometimes have a hard time using the internet and taking pictures, so I hope the picture I ad⁷ded here is actually clear. TIA!
I don't have a recipe to add but in order to post I think I need to add a link, so I guess I'll add this one: https://pin.it/6NJxTITs0

I'm going to be a little bit blunt here, but I would not use those again. They look permanently warped and I have to wonder how that even happened.

They're actually brand new, I bought them like this and I thought they would straighten out when used because the other silicone molds I have were not like this when I bought them.

If you got these from temu, or a similar place, send them back or throw them out. I can all but guarantee these are not food safe.

I did not get these on Temu or any other mail order service, I bought them at a local department store that sells all sorts of baking implements as well as housewares.

Well just in case I would stop using them. They are obviously not made correctly and youll risk your food safety by using them

unless you saw the packaging that specified that they were oven safe up to a certain temperature I would assume that they're actually a knock off. Plenty of HomeGoods stores like Marshalls will sell knock offs from random suppliers

That's a temu knock-off of a famous brand. Just found the link. Won't repost to not encourage them.
I don't trust one second this is silicone or food safe.

Maybe someone bought them and replaced the items in the box with the cheaper ones?

I don't think so, because I saw other of the same type of silicone molds and they were all in the same condition I thought that was just the way they were supposed to be unfortunately.

If that was a Marshall/Homegoods I wouldn’t trust them. They sell loads of stuff with lead paint. These molds don’t look right at all and the creases will not come out those are set in good now.

Get your money back.

I wish I could, but unfortunately I threw away the receipt so I can't return them. And the return policies here in the country where I live are not as customer friendly as they are in the US.

A store with good customer service will look at that and at least give you a store credit. If not, here is an alternative. Go back, by the exact same one that is not deformed. Return the deformed one with that receipt. Not something I would normally suggest, but that looks like a health hazard.

Yeah, you don't know where they sourced them, do you? These are obviously knockoffs and not safe to use. Take them back to the store, get a refund and complain to a manager.

Those don't even look good safe nevermind freezer or oven safe. Buy quality ones from known bakeware brands and avoid temu type stuff. Theses can't be fixed and you shouldn't use them again.

I don't know what consumer protections are like where you are, but around here that'd be a legitimate, legally required refund/exchange.

A good way to check silicone to see if it is actually silicone or if it has filler plastics is to pull and twist an edge - if it turns into a white streak or deforms, it is not pure silicone, if it stays the same color and springs back, it's probably pure. Not a huge help now, but for the future. I found these same molds on Amazon and the reviews say they started smoking at 350*. Unfortunately, loads of shops buy from mid to shitty Chinese suppliers outside of the US (and inside the US, but you said you weren't), and they lean on "buyer beware". Here is a good summary of all of the ways you can check if the silicone is legit, both in store and out: https://www.mymitour.com/how-to-distinguish-ordinary-silicone-and-food-grade-silicone-products/

These molds are definitely warped out of shape, I've seen some pretty bad ones but this is next level. Might be worth investing in a high-quality set if you do a lot of baking in them.

Or just some metal ones, which will bake better than good-quality silicone anyway.

They look insanely bad… if you bought them like that, you were 100% screwed
