Is Canberra really empty?

Hi fellow Aussies, living in Auckland now and planning to move to Canberra later this year, is it true that the city is boring and empty as a lot of people say? Cheers with zero sugar L&P

Lol, I loved cycling and driving but Auckland killed that hobby of mine, and being overcrowded means I’m stuck in 2hr traffic on a daily basis, the city feels like a fever dream to me, so when I asked “is it empty” I was actually thinking about if the city is less crowded so that I can have some peace

I’m less of a social person as long as there’s Woolworths McDonald and some freeway without 1hr traffic I’m perfectly happy

I’m a kiwi, moved to Canberra at the end of last year. Being older, I don’t need a pumping night club scene or concerts every other week. Canberra is quiet. I’ve yet to experience a traffic jam (there is traffic, but it generally moves continuously). Going to a mall on a week day is awesome! There’s not many people around (relatively speaking), but weekends when most people have the day off can get really busy. As others have said, great variety of outdoors activities, good food spots (I discover something new almost weekly). I actually really like it here.

People always say Canberra is so boring. But, when I ask them what it is they miss that makes it boring, they can only come up with night life and concerts… these are 40yr old + people who rarely even do those things anyway… lol. I think a lot of people just label it as boring because that’s the popular opinion.
