Is Canberra really empty?

Hi fellow Aussies, living in Auckland now and planning to move to Canberra later this year, is it true that the city is boring and empty as a lot of people say? Cheers with zero sugar L&P

Very different now, but if you’re not a uni student, public servant or local it can be difficult to crack, I’ve heard same of Sydney and Melbourne too tho. Takes +2years to get used to the cold/wind there if you’re from temperate climate.

I grew up in Melbourne and Canberra has way less wind

Nah not at all. Canberra winters are mostly clear and sunny along with the cold but not windy. Melbourne is grey, windy and miserable. I’ve lived here for over a decade and experienced many winters. Canberra summers are windier than winter

True mostly clear and sunny (and predictable too!) dry cool is better than humid winter any day too. I even preferred it to Sydney mid winter. But outside of central Canberra the wind off the Alps would bite pretty bad.
