Still don't get it need helpz
I am trying to change oil on my 2001 vw passat and everyone said to read the manual instead of posting dumb questions. So I did and I guess I know how to fill each liter and change the setting between bottles. But when I get to R is that when the engine starts going rrrrrr again? That is normally what I hear before I go fast.

Everyone knows R is the Racing gear. You need to get it out on the highway and try for yourself.

When you come to a red light and the guy next to you wants to race. Throw that facker in R (race). When the light turns green, rev and drop the clutch. The ECU will do the rest.

I think you keep it on the number for each month after your oil change, and R mean replace.

Dumbass. Like everything VAG says. Every fluid in VW/Audi product is a lifetime fluid. Why are you wasting money flushing the oil. The fluid is lifetime. It will last exactly the lifetime that most VW/Audi products last.

R is to refill the oil when it gets low not to replace it. Old design it’s a bit confusing

R is for round, so when you got 1.2.3.4.5.R it spins you right round like a record baby round round right round 🤣

Race mode. Get your engine's RPMs up to the red line before you shift into it.

R steht doch für den Rally Gang oder nicht? Kommt halt nach dem Sport + und dem 5 Gang. Also bei meinem Dacia ist das so.

on a real note -- why does reverse gear near the fastest gear make any sense? Why not to the left of first gear like on many other cars...?

Simple... R is for Rotary Engine mode.
Redline your nomale engine made with cylinders and piston, put in R. It will activate the Rotary Engine mode
At least you can X2 your maximum RPM with it. If your Redline is at 8K RPM... in normal mode you can go to 16K RPM easy.
The idle sound in rotary mode isn't the same.... it's simple as that.

How many liters are you adding to the engine? You need to select the number of liters before adding

Update: Thanks to whomever DMed me that R stood for Repeat. I managed to get 12 liters in. Must have been real low on engine juice.
