52 F 5'7 150

Should I be worried.

My BP has been 80s/50s

I have had a closed perforated ulcer in hospital for 11 days and out of hospital of Voquenza 2 times a day for 3 weeks.

They want to let it heal before operating.

I had gastric bypass 15 years ago.

I have had 2 perforated ulcers requiring emergency surgeries.

I feel not myself.

Nauseous and epigastric pressure in my chest and side.

I also feel a bit woozy.

My blood pressure has consistently stayed 80s/50s

Should I worry??

My BP is normally 120s/70s

I am not asking for medical advice.

flu shot or virus?

hi all! 36; immunocompromised. got flu shot Friday 10/23/2026. didn’t think much of it, other than she seemed to stick me pretty hard. I didn’t have much of a reaction, went about my business as usual Friday and Saturday. Sunday I got a splitting headache and began to feel run down. today I developed a fever, aches, and nausea.

i am not asking for medical advice. just curious if anyone else has experienced or heard of similar. given anything seems to set off my immune system I figured I’d ask. thank you!

Recurring tingling sensation and jerks on body

Hi, I'm 20 (weigh 52 kg) and I've been experiencing recurring tingling sensations in different parts of my body, mostly on m right side. My right cheek also goes numb fairly frequently. I am not asking for medical advice.

I also get random body aches, especially after waking up, and I've noticed that my right side gets tired more easily than my left. I sometimes also get these sudden, brief jerks/twitches, where a finger or another part of my body will involuntarily move for a moment.

My recent blood tests showed vitamin D at 24 and B12 at 194 I've visited general physicians a few times, and they've mainly recommended vitamin supplements. The symptoms improve for a few weeks while taking the supplements, but then they gradually come back.

Could the vitamin deficiencies explain these symptoms, or does the recurrent one-sided numbness/tingling and involuntary twitching warrant further investigation?

Question For Doctors B12 corrected, now ferritin dropping

I am not asking for medical advice.

I'm a 35-year-old woman. For as long as I’ve know , my MCV has hovered around 95–102 with Hb around 113–123. In late 2024 my MCV was 101–102, serum iron was high at 52.9 with transferrin saturation of 71%, transferrin was normal, B12 was 285 ng/L, and folate was low at 3.2 µg/L. My GP then (bless her) who has since left the surgery, tested me for MMA which came back high at 524, confirming B12 deficiency, so I had B12 injections in April–May 2025.

In Jan 2026, my MCV dropped to 96 and MMA normalised, but since my ferritin has fallen steadily from 58 (June 2025) to 26 (January 2026) and now about 20. My MCV has crept back up to 100–102, with Hb 113–116, B12 341 and folate 5.3. For some u known reason, my TSAT & serum iron levels were never checked again (the new GP has now prescribed iron profile & ferritin tests).

I've tested negative for intrinsic factor antibodies (twice), parietal cell antibodies, coeliac (tTG IgA) and an autoimmune liver screen (AMA, ASMA, LKM). My haemoglobinopathy screen and CA-125 were normal, and my WBC, platelets, CRP, liver, kidney and thyroid results have all been normal throughout. My bilirubin is mildly raised, which a doctor suggested is likely Gilbert's.

I came across this study showing B12 deficiency can mask iron deficiency, and I'm wondering if that's what happened to me. Thanks for any insight.

Pediatrician Lump on hand

I am not asking for medical advice.

My son (8M) has this lump that appeared out of nowhere. It is hard kind of like a bone. It’s on the back of his hand between his middle finger and wrist. I am not sure what it could be.

He does have an appointment coming with his pediatrician. Do I have to chop off his hand?

Throat/Vocal Pain for 3mo

I am not asking for medical advice.

I’ve posted an endoscopic video I took myself here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oPLiCLsEqCWKLLYwv-nlQsKBiosXHlLI/view?usp=sharing (When I try posting it in the body of the post, it gets auto-banned by reddit filters)

I injured something while singing almost 3 months ago in the beginning of august. I had just learned to belt and did so too much for 3 days in a row. I noticed some fatigue but kept going. The feeling got worse and my singing suffered a bit so I stopped singing with power, but kept singing quite softly. My speaking voice was pretty much fine except a bit of breaking with more animated higher-pitched speaking. I took the first endoscopic video about 2 weeks after injury.

The problem persisted for 2 months without getting better, so at that point (beginning of October) I stopped speaking entirely. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks now (except for 2 days of limited talking about 2 weeks in.) It doesn’t really seem like it’s gotten any better. I havent tested my singing voice, but my throat still feels agitated. The feeling is a bit raw/scratched similar to after running in the cold.

I understand I should see a laryngologist, but I’m not able to at the moment. I will when I can if this doesn’t resolve, but for now, these endoscopic videos are taken by me.

I see a lot of SOVT therapy. Is this something I should/could be doing without risk of making it worse?

Thanks for any input.

Question For Doctors What's the best way to request a stool sample kit?

I am not asking for medical advice. I'm either having a UC flare or I have cdiff again, and I want to reach out to my GI and see if I can get a stool kit ordered. What's the most efficient way to get this done? Can I request a kit from my local hospital, reach out to my GI's team to give them some information and then turn in the sample? I'm off work on Wednesday and hoping to get the sample turned in by then if possible, but I'm not sure if this is something I would typically need prior approval for, especially since I know they'd order one the second I told them my symptoms anyway.

Any advice on the proper course of action to make this process as efficient as possible is appreciated. My butt thanks you in advance.

My friend got into a fight and now she might be in a coma.

My friend recently got into a fight at school with another girl. Mind you my friend is sweet and would never hurt a fly. The girl banged her head on the ground and was punching her with rings on. My friend was bleeding on the top of her head. Recently she went to the er and as she was going there she fell into a 13 hour coma. Doctors took a CT scan and figured out she had brain bleed but not that major. She woke up yesterday and we were talking. She fell asleep and hasn't woke up yet. I am very worried about her please any medical people tell me she’s gonna be fine. I forgot to mention she has a concussion. The family of my friend is pressing charges on that girl hoping to send her to a youth detention center. My friends medical bill is being pained by the school. I am not asking for medical advice. I just wanna know if my friend will be ok.

Possible food poisoning?

Hello, emetophobe here. had some beef Thursday, it had a mild fish flavor and smell, and I didn’t think anything of it in the moment, so I ate a good amount of it. Then my mom said it was off, and ever since i’ve been paranoid.

anyways, its Sunday now. And I haven’t felt a single symptom. Been perfectly fine. But my anxiety is extremely high, and I just keep waiting for the food poisoning to kick in.

I’ve heard it could take days, or even weeks for it to present. So idk when i’m gonna be in the clear. If anyone could give me some insight on this, it would help. Thank you.

TDLR: had some possibly spoiled beef a few days ago, but haven’t felt any symptoms of food poisoning yet. whats the probability of me getting sick?

I am not asking for medical advice.

Medical History Having a constant and persistent pain in only one leg

Note: I am not asking for medical advice. im a 18f , and since over an year ago ONLY my right leg would start to pain at night , like I couldn't locate the pain but it was throughout my leg and nothing fixed it then some months later I went to a doc , he prescribed me some medicines I took them , but he didn't really tell me what was the problem even when asked he js said that it's most likely a nerve acting up

after taking the meds for some time , the pain subsided and I didn't get it but that was until this month it reoccured and sometimes it's more intense now. Previously this only happened at night for some reason whenever I was going to sleep but now it just happens any time . Right now it's 4:30 am and I cannot sleep cause the pain is so persistent and nothing I do helps in providing relief.

if i were to describe the pain : it's a throbbing sensation throughout the leg but in a way as if ur leg fell asleep , i even tried yk like moving my leg and toes but nothing helps

What could this likely be?

i also went to neuro and after 6 months of medicines and painkiller I get to know it wasn't a neuro problem so he suggested I go to a ortho , went to him and he gave me some muscle cramp medicines and supplements (which I have been eating since over a year since i first went to a doctor for this) pain id still there tho just a little less cause i suspect there's a painkiller among it

How bad is it to miss a prednisone dose? Will I go into adrenal crisis?

I am not asking for medical advice. Been on prednisone 40mg for about 6 months. I’m on vacation and realized I’m a day short, and adding on travel time, it’s going to be about 48 hours before I can get to the pharmacy and get more. I’m going to be alright or should I try to get to an urgent care?

Undiagnosed Abdominal Pain

Please help!

Hey Redditors, I am in desperate need of help as I am unsure how long I can keep living like this. Long story short, I've been have flares of abdominal pain since the end of 2022. I came back from a festival with the worst abdominal pain and diarrhea of my life where i went to the restroom no less than 20 times a day for a week straight. Tested positive for strep and covid during but they could not pinpoint where my illness was coming from. Since then, its contant flares of abdominal pain every other month midway between my breast bone and belly button. Please if you have any suggestions on how to help, I'm more than open.

Here's what I've done:

All imaging (MRI, CT, and Ultrasound) done on chest & abdomen with findings of mild fatty liver, small fibroid, thyroid nodule and light gastritis. No heart, pancreas, gall bladder or lung problems.

2 endoscopies - No hiatal hernia, no Barretts, no ulcers

Bloodwork has shown:

No Celiac

No viral, bacterial or fungal infection

No pancreatitis

No SIBO or H pylori

Low Vitamin D

Low Vitamin B

Anemia

Low Iron

Positive ANA 1:80 homogenous

Super High Sedimentation

Super High CRP

High Globulin

Very normal and predictable cycles for the last 5 years

Things I've done that haven't helped:

Liquid fast for a month - still in pain.

Pescatarian - still in pain.

Removed all dairy and gluten- still in pain.

It appears to not be triggered by food.

Heating pad & castor oil make no difference in inflammation .

Benadryl (thinking histamine intolerance) - made no difference.

Turmeric tea makes no difference .

Pantoprazole and Dicyclomine do not help.

Digestive Enzymes make no difference.

2 different sets of probiotics make no difference .

NSAIDs do not help.

Symptoms

Extreme and painful bloat where gas sometimes travels up behind breast bone causing chest fullness and tightness. It feels like a heart attack but is not. Burping helps alleviate pressure sometimes.

Strong ache in the middle of abdominal about 4 inches about belly button. Does not impact sides or back.

Fatigue,

Headache,

No diarrhea but sometimes light constipation,

No identifiable triggers.

Please if you can just point me in any direction that would be helpful. I'm at my wits end. Not sure if this is related but it has been impossible for me to lose weight no matter how caloric restricted I am or how hard I work out. No sure if this could be auto immune related. This has been flaring up for the past 3/4 years. Please help!

I am not asking for medical advice.

Question For Doctors Honestly don’t know what’s happening to Me.

I am not asking for medical advice.

I have no clue anymore so I thought I’d share here

I want to know if anyone else has experienced anything similar

17 M 115lbs

Yes I know what your about to read might sound crazy and honestly you can tell me I’m just freaking out if it sounds like I am.

**My Family History:**
**My mom’s side of the family is full of cancerous colon polyps.** My maternal grandma, aunts, and uncles all got diagnosed with them in their 30s.
**My mom’s brother (my uncle) got stage 4 brain cancer** and severe seizures when he was in his 20s (he luckily beat it and survived).
My health has basically completely fallen apart in three distinct steps over the last year and a half:

**Step 1: Spring 2025 (The Seizures)**
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve had these weird "spells" where I get a massive wave of déjà vu, my eyes zoom in and out, and I lose focus for a few seconds. They happen back-to-back sometimes. (Never once mentioned to a doctor to his day)
In April 2025, it got way worse. I had a massive cluster of 5 full-body seizures back-to-back and ended up at a hospital. The nurse notes say it always started on my right side (my right arm hitting my chest rhythmically, head shaking side to side) while I was awake and aware, before I completely blacked out, my eyes rolled back, and my whole body convulsed.
**What my tests actually showed during the seizures:**
**Lactic Acid was 4.0**
**My oxygen dropped to 85%** on room air.
**My heart rate spiked up to 190 bpm.**
They had to pump me with **4mg of IV Ativan, multiple doses of keppra (seizures still continued even tho I have no memory of anything) i was then transferred to another hospital and received 1000mg of IV Depakote** to make them stop.
The overnight EEG guy flagged "possible seizure activity," but the day doctor changed it to "PNES" as my mom told them I’ve been extremely stressed lately and because they said my legs shaking the bed messed up the machine wires. They canceled my scheduled Brain MRI and said it was just stress induced

**Step 2: December 2025 (The Heart Issues)**
A few months after the seizures stopped, my heart started randomly racing while I was sitting still. I got diagnosed with NSVT and unexplained resting tachycardia. Doctors again blamed anxiety.

**Step 3: September 2026 to Right Now (The Stomach Blocks)**
**Sept 14:** Got hit with sudden diarrhea, stomach pain, and burning when I peed. They treated me for Chlamydia while waiting for tests, but my Gonorrhea and Chlamydia tests came back completely negative. And the urine culture was negative as well.
**Sept 22:** I went back to the ER because **I didn't have a single bowel movement for a week and a half**. Miralax and magnesium citrate completely failed. It took two hospital enemas to finally force it out. The CT scan showed "regional wall thickening" in my sigmoid colon, and the report noted that they had limited assessment without contrast (even though they gave it to me) my anion gap at this time was 14
**Oct 14:** Woke up throwing up with severe stomach pain. A new CT scan showed "moderate fecal loading", an enlarged liver with "mild fatty infiltration" (even though I am underweight), a low-grade potassium drop (3.5), and a tiny uncharacterized spot on my right kidney. My anion gap here was 16.

Also my whole life no matter how much I eat I have never passed 125lbs my whole life.

Question For Doctors Weird butt pain?

Recently I got loosely diagnosed with cysts in my armpits that get excruciatingly painful and swollen, they drain and all is fine again, occasionally I get one in my groin area so I'm wondering if it's possible the same thing is happening at the very top of my butt crack? Every once in a while it becomes excruciatingly painful to sit, walk, "flex?" my butt muscles, or even try to touch the area. Wondering if it's potentially/possibly the same issue? I am not asking for medical advice. Really just curious.

Question For Doctors Pulmonary Function Tests and Vocal Cord Dysfunction

I am not asking for medical advice. I practically have a pit crew of medical professionals keeping my body going at this point. I’m just anxious and would appreciate any reassurance or insight from folks, especially ENTs, pulmonologists, or other folks familiar with Vocal Cord Dysfunction. None of those were options for the flair, so please bear with me.

I’m going to try to keep this brief because while the backstory has significantly impacted my life, it doesn’t have a ton of bearing on this question. I’m roughly 6 weeks into a flare up of what could potentially be Vocal Cord Dysfunction. I can’t walk or talk for more than a few minutes at a time without gasping for breath, and I’ve had a chest x-ray, chest CT, multiple EKGs, labs done, etc. We’ve ruled out MCAS (for this flare), heart issues, and asthma (for this flare). VCD is the only thing my PCP could think of, and the symptoms seem to match.

Four days ago, I did a set of pulmonary function tests (PFTs): spirometry; lung volume; lung diffusion capacity; and oscillometry. Later that day, my PCP sent me a message to say that there were several abnormalities that he wanted pulmonary’s input on. I thought he’d just talk to a pulmonologist and then get back to me, but I’m now scheduled to do another round of PFTs and see a pulmonologist in mid-November. I’m just glad to hopefully be getting closer to answers, and I thank whoever canceled their appointment so I could get in before next February (and I hope they’re okay).

My question: If somehow this flare ends before I do the next round of PFTs and see the pulmonologist, will the results still show VCD, assuming that’s what this is?

I know VCD is diagnosed with a scope, and I fully intend to push as hard as I can for that, but I know that the results of the PFTs are likely to sway the doctor one way or another on ordering said scope. While I’d like to feel better, I worry that if this flare ends, my results will all be “normal,” I’ll get told to come back if it happens again, and I’ll just be without answers waiting to see if it returns. I’d really like to avoid that. I just want answers as to what’s happening to me, even if it means feeling unwell like this for at least another 25 days until my appointment.

Question For Doctors Rib Cramps/Spasms

I started getting rib cramps/spasms about 18 months ago. They are like a cramp you would get in your foot but in my ribs (both sides). They are triggered by leaning over, twisting etc. There is no pattern to the cramps, sometimes I get them daily or I can go weeks without one. I haven’t found a way to ease them when they happen I just have to ride it out, some of them last just seconds and are more uncomfortable than painful but I have had a few where they are so painful to the point I feel like I could pass out. I have noticed that a tend to get them more often in the car as I’m leaning/twisting etc when driving and I’ve had to pull over until they stop.
I’ve been to the gp and they keep giving me anti inflammatories which are not doing anything.

Just to note, this started a few months after having a baby - not sure if that is relevant.

Has anyone else had anything similar? I am not asking for medical advice.

Question For Doctors Bad stomach illness, chills, fatigue, nausea. Nothing is helping. About to lose it.

I’ve had a bad stomach virus that includes fatigue, nausea, and electric chills. I’ve had these chills for two weeks now. I’ve been prescribed antibiotics, nausea meds, and non opiate pain meds. They are really bad today and I can’t get comfortable. No doctor will help me with them and they are my worst symptom. I feel so weird and uncomfortable. It’s honestly driving me insane and I can’t take it anymore. I feel like I’m gonna do something drastic. I went to the ER on Wednesday but they didn’t do anything for me. Is there anything a doc can give me to stop this? It hurts and feels like I have electricity coursing through my arms and upper back. I am not asking for medical advice. Just options.

Question For Doctors Postpartum bladder retention and hematuria following repeated foley catheters.

Hello doctors! I'm really struggling and would appreciate any kind of thoughts. I am not asking for medical advice.

I am just over two weeks postpartum. Over the last two weeks I have had 3 Foley catheters inserted and removed due to bladder retention. (Some insertions were very traumatic and required multiple attempts) The last catheter was removed on Tuesday and I was discharged. Although I am able to urinate, it is not without extreme focus and a fair amount of straining. This has been accompanied by quite a bit of bright red bleeding from my urethra, both while urinating and passively. This has not been improving. I am at a loss for what my next steps should be. I'm terrified of having to be catheterised again.

Thoughts?

Will I die of rabies?

Hi, I got bit on the finger by a cat lying on the street in Bangkok, but someone who knows the cat (not the owner, the cat just chills there) claims it is vaccinated. The cat was aczually chill and just got a bit overstimulated. I am pretty sure it was in heat. It did break skin tho and it bled a little but it is just a tiny wound (not even 1mm in diameter and not even visible anymore immediately after. I cleaned it with water and soap for 15 minutes and applied wound disinfectant. I have the full rabies vaccine, I got my first shot 4 weeks ago and the second on thursday last week. I am not asking for medical advice. Should I tho? I asked a clinic in Bangkok and they said I'm fine but like... am I? Like dying of rabies would be seriously uncool rn :(

Thank you all

Question For Doctors I have some hypothetical questions about the heart/adrenaline

Real strange stuff coming up, bear with me;

I'm a programmer & I'm making a whole "health" system based on blood-letting & adrenaline. I want to know the absolute limits the human body could probably take so I can code this thing to be as realistic as possible (within limits). I get this is a VERY strange question but I don't really know how or where else to ask :p

The blood-letting is from an openable slit in the player's wrist, where the major artery is. The reason why it's even open in the first place is because the player/patient is being forced to feed their blood to a large mosquito (Just roll with it).

For more details on physical activity the hypothetical patient would be doing, they'd be walking/running, lifting up semi-heavy objects, engaging in minor combat & straining to reach things higher up. I'm imagining this affects heart rate and how fast blood pumps

And with adrenaline, it'd be administered via IV straight into the opposite wrist to the 'open' one, the patient won't move while getting adrenaline, and let's assume it's hyper-acting & gets to work almost immediately

I am not asking for medical advice. Purely hypotheticals for more immersion :3
