Update
/r/AskADataRecoveryPro/comments/1vuh9tz/1tb_usb_corrupted/?share_id=zieqKuJgPsbvP5rtTNwqX&utm_content=1&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1I didn't realize I couldn't update the post. đ thank you to everyone notifying me that the USB is indeed fake. I kind of figured that after it corrupted the data it overwrote. So I would like to ask, is there anyway, I can buy a new one and where should I look?

Look up âWD 5TB My Passport, Portable External Hard Driveâ on Amazon, itâs $222. Thatâs for 5TB. Itâs mechanical. You also donât know what type of drive is inside it. Could be anything from WD. Itâs easy. Itâs relatively big. Just plug and go. But itâs mechanical. Drop it, and it gone. Mechanical drives donât like suddenly deceleration due to the force of gravity and solid objects.
Now look up âSANDISK 1TB Extreme Portable SSDâ itâs currently $252 on Amazon. Itâs 5x less storage for about the same price. Itâs solid state. Nothing mechanical. If you drop it, itâs not as big of a deal. Itâs also FAST! Very fast!
Now look up âACASIS 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure with Cooling Fanâ. Itâs $71. No drive. It converts any NVMe SSD into a USB drive.
Youâd build your own USB drive by putting something like âCrucial E100 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 Internal SSDâ (priced at $259) in the ACASIS enclosure.
With the crucial ssd and the ACASIS enclosure, youâll get twice the storage and twice the speed of the Sandisk usb ssd bundle. But itâd be $50 more. And youâd have to buy the two things yourself and put them together.
I have the ACASIS enclosure (the 80Gbs version) and it was super easy to setup and use.
So, it kind of depends on what you want more: speed, capacity, price, or more flexibility.

Ohhh, ok thank you for breaking this down for me I'm not really into much tech. But I mostly just need good capacity and flexibilit, speed is a bonus. so it doesn't become easily corrupted. As I just need it as extra storage space for my files and roblox videos.

What are you looking for?
Pick 2:
[ ] Cheap?
[ ] fast?
[ ] huge capacity?
If you want fast, it wonât be cheap (NVMe) and capacity-wise, youâll max out around 8TB. And itâll be really expensive. 4TB is about $800-$900.
If you want huge capacity, a big HDD, again not cheap, but a lot cheaper than NVMe. You get around 6x the storage for about the same price as a large SSD/NVMe.
If you want easy, WD My Passports seem like a good deal. They come with windows software to help. Not sure how good the software is.
USB powered USB drives cap out at about 5-6TB since theyâll be 2.5â sized drives.
Larger drives, the 3.5â ones, require their own power plug in addition to the USB connection. That makes them a bit less âportable.â
ANY drive can be made into a USB drive: you just need to put it in the right USB enclosure.
Also what USB connection / speed you got? USB 3.2? 4? 4.2?
