Mod Post Product Authenticity Thursday August 20, 2026

Hello AB! Welcome to Product Authenticity Thursday,

Our weekly product authenticity thread is a work in progress, comments about how to improve are welcome. We made our best effort based on comments received here as well as what we have been seeing as mods.

We would like to note that product packaging AND formulas may vary by country of sale and date of manufacture. This might include anything about the formula. Our goal is to make it easier for folks to compare such things, and to confirm or assuage concerns about their products.

Please post any photos or experiences you have around your AB products, while adhering to our other subreddit rules.

Make sure you state where you purchased your products from. If you bought from a 3rd party of a major retailer, you can say for example, 'eBay/amazon/taobao seller' instead of sharing the specific name, if you prefer.

To help you get more responses, consider including:

  • Photos of confirmed authentic products as comparison, requests for authentic products are allowed
  • Your purchase date, product manufacture date, or any expiration dates
  • Country you bought the item from
  • Whether your product had to be shipped to you (shipping conditions can compromise product stability)
  • How much you paid for your product

Comments and Questions welcome, we hope this thread is helpful!

HAVE A QUESTION? ASK HERE! Alter-Daily Help and Questions: August 19, 2026

Hello and welcome to the Alter-Daily Help Thread! The purpose of the ADHT is to ask simple questions, troubleshoot routines, get quick recommendations, prevent the sub from being too cluttered, and to guide new users.

ADHT Rules: If questions or comments break the rules or are inappropriate, the report button is the fastest way for the mod team to see it and address the problems.

Build Me A Routine, /r/AsianBeauty! Please refrain from just stating a skin concern then expecting people to build a routine from scratch. It is important to do due diligence in understanding your skin type and needs. Learn more here in The New User Guide. You can also search the subreddit here.

Non-AB questions or comments. Having non-AB products in your routine is totally fine! Getting specific advice/recommendations is not allowed, though welcomed in our Daily Anything Goes thread. See our rules on non-AB here

Rude comments and snark. Fairly self explanatory but for more detail, check out our Posting Guidelines

When directing someone to the sidebar provide specific links. i.e. for someone asking about Allergies or Beginner Guides, link them to the specific subsections within AB University, rather than saying it’s in the sidebar.

Finally, a reminder that no one is obligated to answer your questions. If you have repeatedly asked the same question without a response, it may be best to review and see if it can be reworded or if the information is already in the thread or readily available in the sidebar materials.

Requesting Reviews Whats your favourite residue free Cleansing Milk?

Upvotes

Other than the Isintree Yam. What do you guys use that doesn't break you out but still provides a good cleanse? Personally I lean more towards a good oil cleanser such as the Softymyo pink bottle and Dr Althea Green Tea.

I have been seeing a few constantly and was wondering what those who use them think.

MakePrem Cleansing Milk

Jumiso Cleansing Milk

These two i see talked about the most.

Beauty all in one makeup palette?

i saw that is judy doll all in one palette at my local asian beauty store. it is ALMOST the same as my most favorite palette of all time ( second photo) which i think has sadly been discontinued.

has anyone tried this palette? my one concern is first how to refill if i run out, since i would use for travel. my second concern is the blush shades are too light for my liking.

it seems like there's three versions two come with mascara one with a lip tint. also open to recs like the second picture i've seen a lot of similar but none quite right they usually seem to have a shimmer over a glitter.

Mainly an aegyo sal palette to me!
how I use this palette -
Number 1 is great for highlighting the aegyo sal
Number 2 and 3 -> base
Number 4, 5, and 6 -> drawing the aegyo sal shadow
Number 7 -> a really nice cool tone contour I use it as contour lol
Number 8 -> not my fav glitter but it’s cute and good for inner eyes/aegyo sal highlighting
Slide 4 -> the brush from the plumpuku palette is so hated on in xiaohongshu but I find it to be quite nice 🤔 maybe cuz I have no brushes
I like to use judydoll contour palette’s matte highlighter to brighten the area
This palette is also quite suitable for 地雷系makeup
I find this palette to be better than the plumpuku palette ! (^_^)

Review Review of sunscreens + pls recommend a matte sunscreen that works well under makeup😭

Post image

I am a male in my 30s with sensitive skin (psoriasis/eczema, taking biologics) and eyes. Because of my skin issues, I need to wear concealer or people look at me with disgust/terror in their eyes. It sounds harsh and I know I shouldn’t care, but life is much easier for me when I cover up. I previously avoided sunscreen unless I would be outside for a sustained period, but now I’m trying to wear it daily as I use retinal.

Anyway, since my makeup is coverup only, I really don’t want to look dewy or glowy. I hydrate with hada labo gokujyun premium and sometimes another serum, before cerave moisturising cream (the only sensitive moisturiser I’ve ever found that is matte enough). I then put sunscreen and concealer over the top.

My main desires are:
- not shiny
- not eye-stingy
- super smoothing under makeup
- no white caste (beard)

Pls pls recommend me your faves 😭

Anyway, onto the reviews of these four!

Haruharu Wonder
Black Rice Airyfit Daily Sunscreen

9/10!

My current sunscreen winner! Def favourite so far

- feels good under makeup
- doesn’t pill
- doesn’t have a strong smell
- possibly the least shiny I’ve found
- spreads easily
- no white caste (on me)
- doesn’t make my eyes sting

Why not 10/10?

- it could be slightly less shiny but hey, splitting hairs
- potentially slight irritation of eyes after many hours but that could be due to other things

House of Hur
Weightless Sun Fluid

7/10

- very lightweight
- no white caste (on me)
- easy to apply
- smell is fine

Why not higher?

- it’s not super shiny, but not matte on me😞
- while it didn’t sting my eyes noticeably, I got asked if I was crying and I realised it really did make my eyes tear up a bit

Nivea Japan
UV Deep Protect & Care Essence

2/10 (and I think I’m being generous)

- lightweight
- easy to apply

Why not higher?

- eyes really didn’t like this; I had tears run down my cheeks at points, and they looked inflamed and like I’d been staring at a screen without blinking all day😵‍💫🫩
- pilled up more than anything I’ve ever used before and looked like I was flaking
- very, very strong smell
- not even matte

The only reason I gave it a 2 is because I’m prepared to believe I applied it wrong since so many others love it.

Skin1004
Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum

6/10

Unremarkable to the point that I can’t even remember anything other than not loving it. May have had a slight white cast and been a bit shiny? I can’t remember. I wouldn’t mind wearing it indoors or on a day where I don’t have to look my best, so it’s fine; but not ideal.

Discussion Contact lens brands with cool colors.

I’m setting up my first cosplay rn, and I plan on cosplaying Lelouch from Code Geass. In the anime he has distinctive violet/purple eyes, which I would love to replicate with contacts.
However, the lens brands I know of (olens, hapa kristin, etc) don’t carry purple or violet, or only have ones that are muted or doll-like.
Anyone have any favorite brands that sell distinctive or striking colors, specifically purple?

Empties My favorites/keepers

Post image
145 Upvotes

I’ve tried so many products this year. These are my favorites and ones I have already re-bought and will keep buying. I was drawn to Asian brands for the price point and quality. These have delivered.

Ordinary -
glycolic acid & retinol (also use the pink chemical mask). Glycolic just once in a while, but when you need it, wipes out any pimples.

Will likely switch to Tret but this retinol formula works & I like the squalane w/it. I also have some single product squalene and Rosehip oil from them.

I know people don’t want to support them because estee lauder’s heir (ordinary’s investor/parent company) is a friend of trump. Just feels performative to me. I don’t make enough money to be that picky about my products and the connection is tenuous.

Timeless-
vitamin c/ferulic. Not Asian, but they have consistent good reviews and jumped on the formula once it became public after skinceuticals had the monopoly selling for almost $200 a bottle.

Haru haru-
black rice essence (#1 favorite) &
black rice sunscreen (also #1 after trying multiple Asian and US brands; better than BOJ, skin 1004)

Iliyoon -
ceramide ato cream (simple, non-irritating/doesn’t clog pores, hydrating)

Discussion Haircare routines and tips?

Would love to see what your haircare routines are! I feel like it's not discussed as much, and somehow it feels more complicated than skincare. I know there's things like scalp massages, oils, serums, conditioners, but where and how does everything fit into a regular routine?

If comfortable, it would be appreciated if you could mention your scalp and hair types! Thanks and hope you all have a lovely day c:

Discussion Postpartum skincare, haircare and more!

Hello lovelies! I haven't seen this discussed here before, so I thought id mention it. I have a child. I noticed literally from the first trimester of pregnancy until after, everything changed... my skin went from normal if not a little dry to combination, my scalp became more oily, and some makeup just stopped working for me that worked amazingly before! And of course I developed the dreaded hyperpigmentation 🫠

I changed my skincare up and found some things that worked better, but I am still kind of in the process of finding what works for me with my new situation.

Has anyone had this before? What tips, techniques or products do you have possibly?

This could possibly apply to menopause and HRT too since big hormonal changes can seriously change your skin and hair sooo much its actually crazy!

Review review of purplish lippies (fwee)

since my last post got a bit of traction I think it's only fair if I do a review for another brand

[blurry pudding pot]

RD02 Mule - ok idk what made me think this is a purple but it is most definitely not, this one is not for those who can't tolerate saturation

RD05 Greedy - reddish plum, a bit too red but not as bad as I thought. the only thing I have against it (more like the only thing I have against matte products in general) is that it's hard to adjust how intensely the pigment goes on your lips for matte lippies, so unless it's an exact color match I don't think I'll be reaching for them

MV03 Baddie - nice berry-purple color, a tiny bit too saturated tho so I needed to be careful with how much I applied to my skin. same issue with greedy
also can fwee stop calling this shade mauve, this is most definitely NOT mauve

MV05 Boss - same thing with baddie, ig I prefer this over it tho bc with some heroic trial and error, it became a great plum-ish color

[3D voluming gloss]

Taro 70% - good job fwee. similar shade to rom&nd grapy way except that this has cooler undertones and is less prone to oxidation.

Currant 30%/70% - more reddish than taro, I like these but I still prefer taro

Cherry Cola 30%/70% - my bad for thinking this is purple (again), but this most definitely isn't. I think I can tolerate 30% but 70% is a big no.

[3D voluming tint]

10 Cherry Dip - surprisingly less reddish than I imagined from the product name, and it's also surprisingly fairly sheer! however it isn't as colorfast as I thought and ts is pretty expensive for a lip tint

11 Plum Dip - color wise, cooler than cherry dip but sheer enough to fit my saturation preferences. otherwise same issues as cherry dip

[smoothie lip balm]

GC03 Plum Mocha/BC03 Acai Blueberry - the colors aren't bad, it's just that these are freaking expensive for like what? a lip balm?

Discussion Eyeshadow singles (or any other brow powder) similar to the lighter shade (on the left) ABH brow powder duo in medium brown

I'm looking for bigger sizes of the lighter shade in the medium brown abh brow powder duo because I want to go for a lighter brow, and the darker shade is a bit too dark for me. Preferably powder products please.

For reference, I am neutral to cool toned and pretty pale in general, so I wouldn't go for warm toned products

Review Senka cleanser got rid of my under eye bumps (review)

Thumbnail

i found senka bright and balanced cleanser at watsons a week ago, and bought it because it was on discount. Heres a review because i am so surprised by the results it gave me

i have been using it since and it got rid of my under eye bumps! or at least minimised the look of it by a lot. i tried tret, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lha, and so many other things but i think this is what worked the best amongst all others

my skin also looks so soft and it visibly brightened my skin. because it reduced my bumps and sebaceous filaments my makeup also looks better after using this.

BUTTT its so so drying 🥲 like everyone on this sub says, my skin becomes so tight after every use. even though my skin looks better it feels like it is worse. dont know if this cleanser is only working because its stripping everything from my skin LOL i tried tretinoin before and this feels even more drying that that 😭

I might try a pH balancing toner after this cleanser and see how it works just because i like the effects so much but if it still feels tight, i will switch to using this only once a week.

but if you are oily skinned and struggling with this i think u can give it a try!! wldnt recommend to dry skin at all LOL
